Beijing Restaurant
On first impressions of this restaurant it looked like a very old dated house. The restaurant could do with some major renovations though, Including doors heaters, etc.The service was terrible. Very blunt and sharp.Atmosphere patheticValue was the only good thingFood was poor, the spring rolls did not have much flavour and the beef was very bland. As an occasional Chinese food eater, this is the worst Chinese food I have had in Tasmania.

It was my first time to Beijing Restaurant and I will never ever be going back.1st Cost. $50 for 3 dishes is ridiculous. And one of those was rice.2nd Taste. Fried rice was bland. All it had was some peas, corn, maybe 6 prawns and some ham. Very anaemic in colour. Mongolian Beef had too much flour in the sauce that made it bland too.3rd UNCOOKED CHICKEN. When I cut into the chicken from the Honey Chicken it was as pink as the prawns in the fried rice.Never going to visit Beijing Restuarant in Somerset and would certainly never recommend it.

Fantastic food. Highly recommend to anyone.Excellent service but a little pricey. Most mains around $28. Good size servings. Closes around 8.15 or shortly after. Typically Tasmanian closing time.

I have never before been so keen to ensure I write a bad review, however people need to be warned.I was taken there by a local and the first thing I noticed was the old building that looked more like an ex local 1950's hardware shop. Upon entering it stunk of damp as if it's been leaking water for 30 years. The carpet looked like it was once from a workshop and planted in the middle of the floor was a bain-marie also from the 50's. The tables and chairs were old and somehow I couldn't bring myself thinking this was going to be good.We ordered 3 dishes and I have already told / warned a few locals and friends from around the country that the only way to make food this bad would be to get a group of 5 year old kids to chop up the food and have a 9 year old pan fry it with none of them being coached. The food was total crap. It was incredible how bad a standard was set.To my amazement they charged around $23 per dish and this was lunchtime ! What are they thinking?I am a multi award winning chef a businessman and author. I have travelled the world and this restaurant got my award for being the worse food I have ever eaten. And believe me, I have eaten throughout cities and countryside's from Indonesia all the way through to Europe covering almost every country along the way.If you want to freak your friends out, take them to the Beijing in Somerset.

Beijing Restaurant
Beautiful authentic Chinese food. Service a bit slow when dinning in because they are very busy. But very fast for takeaway. Definitely worth the wait. The best Chinese from Devonport to Smithton. Atmosphere is great, just like a Chinese restaurant should be. Grace gives such personal and friendly service. Just love the food and owners, providing affordable quality food.

Meal was lovely, service friendly, served in good time, yes a little bit more expensive, but worth it, more meat than veg, will return.
