Our first Aboriginal Community Controlled Health service, quality general practice with community at its core. Highly professional and helpful staff, and their clinical team is amazing (they saved my life)

I have been attending the AMS Redfern for over 30 years. Today after almost 2 years not being able to go due to Covid i went to get some long overdue health issues dealt with. After a two hour wait to see the only Dr available i was shuffled in and out in around 5 mins after Dr said she world have to finish with a phone consultation because there other clients for her to see. Not good enough AMS perhaps because it's a medical service you should concentrate on hiring Dr's instead of general staff. Duty of care is seriously missing from the AMS these days

The Redfern AMS was the first AMS to open its doors in 1971/2. Redfern AMS was funded by donations and time given by the Dr's who supported Aboriginal peoples. Redfern has a strong history associated with Aboriginal people and Activism.

Won’t accept new patients??? As a fully identified and Aboriginal/Indigenous person within the community this isn’t right…

Went there in the 80s with my indigenous husband and children.They were fine when my husband was around but totally rude and nasty if I went there by myself.Eventually was told not to come back.I enquired to whom made this rule and was told that a lady called May O'Grady said so.Never came back with my kids included a severely disabled child.Hope things have improved.

Attended the AMS dental Redfern today for emergency dental care, my daughter with two black parents, had bleeding gums, gum separating from teeth, very painful, I can’t afford a dentist & they turned us away, because we aren’t current patients, didn’t have Aboriginality cert, when clearly we are Aboriginal.While I understand their policy of not being a current patient, but in this case of an emergency this should be waived & we sign up later, This is a health service that is supposed to close the gap on Aboriginal health, assist Aboriginal people with this very issue that’s urgent, shameful & unacceptable conduct, how is that rigid, unyielding policy help Aboriginal people in need, in an emergency. Go to the hospital dental clinic they said. Shameful.

Horrible. Transport left us in the dark, when I contacted them they said they would call back in a couple minutes, they didnt. Meanwhile my mother is struggling to breathe for the weekend as they didnt pick her up for her doctors appointment. The Doctors refuse to give her the things she needs no matter how obvious it is that she needs it (oxygen). Worst medical centre Ive dealt with.

Disgusting customer service. One of the medical receptionists spoke to me so unprofessionally and rude. What a joke. How can such rude/unprofessional people be employed and be the first point of contact for an organisation.
