Colbrook Reservoir

Recommended for everyone looking for a great outdoors adventure. Must have 4WD.

Nice place a bit busy but would be great place to camp when not full and tracks pretty good if dry nice place

Beautiful reservoir hidden away in bushland. The tracks down to the reservoir are quite steep so 4WD only & not recommended after rain as the tracks are very rutted. There are only two access points to the water. Very peaceful & private place. There are no amenities here.

Great place to visit with the 4WD. Camping avilable (minimal spots) No toilets here and rubbbish everywhere

Great spot, 4WD only access, camp sites are spread out so you can't see or here your neighbours if you so choose and a lot of fallen trees so firewood is in abundance.

Seems like a nice spot to camp, you could get your average Toyota Camry down there though. Preferably accessible by a 4 wheel drive unless there is another route which I am unaware of. It is ok for swimming, with a rope swing on the other side of the reservoir.

A beautiful spot to stop whilst traveling through the Wombat state forest. Some nice camping spots around the reservoir too.

Colbrook Reservoir is a short drive from Ballan. You have two options to access the water, depending on your activity. Camping? 100% need a 4WD, NOT NEGOTIABLE and it would be really good if it had some height, a winch and a bash plate. If its been raining it gets really slippery. Some deep grooves from prior usage and standing water areas.If you are visiting and have a 2WD car (or just a lower vehicle) park it up and walk down to the water (that's what I did as it was wet) its a nice ten min walk down there and maybe 15 mins back up.Some good hiking shoes or boots will help, esp as its quite sheltered and stays wet after rain. I have Oboz B-DRY Mens Boots (cause wide feet) that have lasted me 3 years with regular usage.Anyhoo...moving on...you can do a short scout, walk down, assess the trail and decide if you want to try take your vehicle down. I have an X-Trail and decided against it. Just to be safe. There is another track if you drive down a little further down Binks Road. I didnt check the condition of that.I have posted pics and videos that help hopefully.Defs worth your effort to get down there, its beautiful and serene ! A couple of great camping spots and not that busy when I went. I heard it is a popular place.

Came to have a look before coming here camping. Great little body of water, good for the canoes and kayaks. The track is a little 4wd like with a fair bit of standing water, some almost wheel deep and rutted but solid bottoms. Wouldn't want to bring too big of a camper trailer, quite narrow and not many turn around points.
