Fresh And Hot Wolli Creek
recently discovered this place.located a few minutes walk from wolli creek train station. this shop serves freshly cooked affordable meal. loved the spicy pork sold at 13.10 AUD, super budget friendly and served with some veggies and a slice of fruit. what are you waiting for? a “must try”I came back 21 and 22 January 2023.. the food served hot as always and the taste was kept the same as the day I first tried this place. food was freshly made and warm which I love.

It’s my first time trying malatang here and I could say that it was delicious. First impression coming into the store is that it looks super clean and fresh which is hard to find for Chinese cheap eats. The counter was organised nicely into sections of noodles, fresh foods, hotpot balls, vegetables and more. After weighing our bowls and paying, soon after the food came out “fresh and hot” (just like their name). Staff is quite nice and welcoming. The mala soup is at the right amount of spiciness and tastes quite deep and flavourful. Maybe next time we will try their dry wok version. Also I’m loving their self serve water and toppings section with sesame paste, garlic paste, chilli oil and crispy shallots.

If you are looking for an authentic, homely meal, stop what you are doing, and get to this place right nowLocated a short walk away from Wolli Creek station, this place offers world-class stir fry and laksaAs the food is charged per weight, you can choose various proteins, fish balls, noodles and greens, fill up your bowel and let someone else do the cookingHighly recommend this place to anyoneFood is great, laksa is rich, and the price is right.Don't walk - run

I am absolutely livid! After eating, I experienced non-stop vomiting and diarrhea all night long. My friends and I all suffered from the same symptoms after eating together. The food seemed fine when we were eating, except for the bizarre way they gave us our change.

Delicious broth and spices. I recommend to dry-wok option for spicy lovers. Also, peak time is quite busy. Take-away is a good option.

I come here regularly and mainly order the wok stir fry. I love adding sweet potato noodles and whatever meat and veggies that I like.Malatang is great on a cold days as well! Lots of flavour!Just be careful with going overboard as it can get pricey.

Combining a fast weeknight dinner with a visit to my favourite Asian supermarket saw us dine at Fresh & Hot Wolli Creek. Both businesses are set at the bases of residential towers clustered near the train station. The key point of difference at this chain, who also have eateries in shopping centres in Rhodes and Chippendale, is they offer more than one soup base. A milder laksa style broth caters for those who don’t like the regular Sichuan-style hot and numbing soup called ma la tang. It’s a great opportunity to grab a bowl and tongs and choose your own hot soup adventure.Labelling is still a gap for this chain, but I’ve rarely disliked any ingredient I have chosen for my soup. Expect to find the usual range of thinly sliced meats, fresh seafood, Asian greens, mystery balls and mushrooms alongside countless iterations of bean curd and noodles. The fried items, from layered bean curd and fishcake to little vegetable fritters, work very nicely in the resulting soup. You pay $31.80/kilo for your soup when you weigh in at the counter. For me that was 530 grams ($16.85) and my dining companion it was 810 grams ($25.76). The broth here has more complexity than it did when I visited their Central Park store, though it still benefits from stirring though a liberal helping of all the available sauces (garlic, sesame, chilli). The restaurant itself is attractively furnished and well lit. It’s decorated with a series of waving lucky cats on blonde wood shelves, their importance cemented in a colourful mural in the rear of a lucky cat with a steaming bowl of noodles. Staff are friendly to first timers, and it shows in the culturally diverse crowd filling every table on the night I dined. Don’t worry about reservations, they turn over tables very quickly.

In comparison to other malatang places I have been to, the broth here was less spicy and there were fewer ingredient selections. While I like that, these two things can be a double edged sword. I cannot eat too spicy and I am indecisive, so less option the better. Speaking of the ingredients, everything was rather standard and quality was okay. Sadly, the utensils were an eyesore. They were all single use plastic. It is agitating to see businesses encouraging this.

We tried both mala soup and fried mala bowl. The fried mala was absolutely delish! You got to pick whatever you want and they will weigh them for you and you will have to pay according to that. We bought many since we're sharing them .

Absolutely awesome and delicious value for money! They have a very nice laksa broth to go with the malatang which is definitely fresh and piping hot when served. Great place for takeaway or eating in on a weekday or weeknight and very convenient being a short walk from the station.
