Bermagui Picnic Area

Lovely forest location, but there is some medium off-road driving to get here. Location itself is pretty rundown, but is more then serviceable in terms of tables and chairs.There is a long drop toilet there as well. May need to bring your own toilet paper but...There is an old fire pit, probably useable but looks like it hasn’t been touched in years.Probably more suitable if you just really want to get off grid and away from everything.

The Spotted Gum forest is, for me, the outstanding highlight of the Bermagui picnic area. The spotted gums have beautiful bark and tall, straight, light-coloured trunks. The picnic area has several picnic tables, a fire grate and a pit toilet. We enjoyed walking the marked trails that lead off from the picnic area. One heads up a rainforest gully then returns along the opposite bank, passing some outstanding spotted gums along the way. The other trail goes around the west side of the Black Lagoon, then past lovely meadows along a stream. It then climbs steeply up a ridge through very tell spotted gums, then even more steeply descends to a creek bed before returning to the picnic area. We found it helpful to take a photo of the trail map at the picnic area to refer to as we followed these trails.
