The Criterion Hotel Motel
Love this place. But....it's nice to have live music however when you are dining with friends you want to talk. The music is rock concert loud and drives us out. No extra drinks. No desserts. It costs them money on two ways. The price of the too loud entertainment and the fact people leave before desserts and extra drinks because they cannot talk. It's the Cris only failing.

The Criterion Hotel Motel
Beautiful old hotel. Mostly fresh paint and clean, with beautiful patterns on the carpets. Air con had no remote (that I could see) but worked ok once you climbed up to turn it on. Ceiling fan helped, too. Pretty red curtains. Sink and shower in the bedroom, with a separate toilet down the hall (shared). $85 room on the second floor.... up two flights of stairs that creaked. Polished wood features are pretty. A Nice quiet room, even though the bar downstairs was noisy with music. I enjoyed staying here. It's a nice memory. Also, the hotel is situated on an absolutely beautiful street, right next to the river. So picturesque.

If you have a chance to stop here. Please do. The memorabilia on the walls, the architecture, and the paintings alone will keep you star gazing for hours. I spent more time absorbing everything than listening to my companion

The Criterion Hotel Motel
We wanted to have dinner here, though it was fully booked. We were told we could eat in the main bar area, but there was a bunch of guys who were rude and tried to stop us from entering. Did not feel safe or welcomed in that section..The building was beautiful to look at. Maybe a Saturday night is not the best time to go there.

I went there for dinner, the pulled pork tacos with pineapple salsa was excellent, messy but excellent. The staff was friendly and helpful.

The Criterion Hotel Motel
Criterion Hotel is a beautiful old heritage-style pub. Large interior, and lovely tall ceilings and stained glass in places as well. A wide variety of food and drinks available and the steaks in particular are especially excellent. No pokies either which is a refreshing change in this day and age. Staff were friendly and welcoming. Would definitely go back again when visiting town.

My wife and I were driving through to Townsville from Brisbane. We had both worked that day, by the time we reached Rockhampton we realalised we needed a break. After trying all of the motels we came across to no avail we noticed the Criterian Hotel (midnight) I approached a young lady who was just closing up. Asked if the had any rooms and even though bar staff don't normally do the motel rooms she had a look and was able to give us the last room available. Thank you so much it made the rest of our trip safer and more enjoyable.

We just had an absolutely wonderful experience eating out at the Criterion, we had oysters kilpatrick which were superb and I had the Salmon which was absolutely beautiful, the kids meals came out quick and with a kids pack as well as a free dessert. The atmosphere is lovely and a great place to go with kids as it’s very family friendly, overall absolutely loved eating out there and had a wonderful experience, highly recommend! Thankyou

Great old pub, TBome was excellent, Beer was cold and Shiraz great. Sticky date pudding may have been a mud cake with Cottees Syrup so needs more thought.Stayed in the original part of the building with gorgeous architecture and that old hotel feel.Rooms need a bit of love but did the job for $115 for a balcony room.

Came here twice during my stay in Rockhampton for meals. Fantastic pub with a huge amount of history. They closed early (comparatively for a Sydneysider) around 10pm, but otherwise everything else was fantastic.
