Melbourne TMJ & Facial Pain Centre

Had TMJ for about 15 years, not extreme however recently it has been more painful. A recommendation from my ENT surgeon David James lead me to Melb TMJ, three weeks in and I am starting to feel a lot better, Shan is really good, thanks Shan.G. Burns

I'm currently being treated by Pete Furness and think he's an excellent practitioner with specific TMJD treatment experience. His treatment and care have certainly helped ease my TMJD pain. The app he suggested I use has helped raise my awareness of when I'm clenching my jaw, so this has been helpful. Highly recommend.

I had neglected my TMJ issues for sometime and on the recommendation of a family member began my treatment at Melbourne TMJ several months ago. My physiotherapist Mel is a caring , very knowledgeable and capable professional. My sessions with her have provided me with much relief and improvement and I am now only attending for “maintenance “. Melbourne TMJ are truly amazing and i'm so glad I decided to give them a go. I've been to multiple other Physios regarding long term jaw pain but had no success. Kevin immediately identified possible causes and after 4 weeks i've seen incredible results. My sleep has improved significantly and jaw pain has more than halved. I'm not on medicare but possibly the best money I've ever spent, thanks Kevin!!

When I saw Shan Liang (my practitioner) the first time at the clinic, I was in a very bad condition with dizziness, ear ringing, face and neck pain etc. He listened earnestly to my explanation, even though my English was not native level, so I felt very comfortable. After a couple of treatments, my condition has improved dramatically. He is the best TMJ practitioner I've ever met. I definitely recommend him to people who have the same symptoms as me.

Ongoing physio and dental treatment from both Shan and Damien was instrumental in alleviating my TMJ issues. Both practitioners demonstrated a high level of professionalism, empathy, and knowledge throughout the treatment process. I found this combined approach incredibly beneficial, and am now pain free! After experiencing jaw and facial pain over many years, I was skeptical of physiotherapy being able to provide relief ... but it has. My bite is more even, and I am able to nip referred pain in the bud - myself! Physiotherapist Shan really knows what he is doing, listens attentively and imparts the skills needed for self-management. Visiting the centre is a very pleasant experience all round.

I am so grateful and thankful to the whole team right from reception to the best physiotherapist Agatha. She was so patient in understanding my injury and then explaining me everything bit by bit. Just after my first visit I had a huge difference and I had tears in my eyes because i never thought I will get relief from the pain that I was having from so many years. Melanie Tam at Melbourne TMJ & Facial Pain Centre/More Than Physio has been amazing! Since early December 2022 I have had severe neck stiffness and accompanying headaches. I've had dizziness and then from the resulting stress started jaw clenching (which has produced facial pain and ear issues - ear fullness, popping, tinnitus). I had a number of scans and tests done, and saw multiple physios at other clinics, as well as other types of practitioners. I came across Melbourne TMJ & Facial Pain Centre and saw the reviews for Melanie and thought she'd be a great fit. Melanie's knowledge is comprehensive, and she is extremely thorough in her investigations of what is happening. She takes into account how you are feeling psychologically as well, and is particularly understanding and empathetic. Her treatment is very precise, and whenever I have visited her I have had great relief! She's given me a detailed program of exercises and self-massage to do between visits that deal with the neck and jaw, but also underlying problems elsewhere that have been impacting them. After so much searching I am now seeing results - my neck stiffness and pain and accompanying headaches are reducing, and I'm feeling more and more like my old self. For months I was unsure when I could return to work, drive, help out at home, engage in social activities, and get back to exercising. I can now see my way out and Melanie has been a HUGE part of this. I simply can not recommend her highly enough! THANK YOU MELANIE!
