Its a good detour. I just think there should be a bit more than whats already there. This place could be much more if the local council cared enough. I picked up some salt as well. Just be careful not to walk in the water and use the old wooden walkways.

Although this is a location quite out of the way of the main highway (about 45 minutes from Ouyen - Calder Highway) it is definitely worth the detour. Absolutely beautiful scenery and informative and interesting displays. If you really want to experience the park I'd probably recommend putting aside a day for the trip as there are some walking tracks etc to enjoy. The park can be accessed via road easily in any car but some roars inside the park are probably best for cars with 4WD. We only have a small hatch and had no problem driving around on the main roads though.Don't forget to bring lots of water, sunscreen, a hat and sunglasses!

Salt Museum
Came to see the Salt Museum on our way to another campsite but ended up spending so much time here that we decided to stay overnight at the Lake Becking campground close to it. Just wonderful in September with all the bright pink wild flowers on the verges of the salt lakes. The Murray Sunset national park has great walks and an interesting Pastoral loop drive suitable for 2w drive too.
