A very interesting tour and unique experience guided by a Mining Engineer currently working in the Mount Isa mine. Loved it!

Get kitted out in disposable mining attire and a head lamp at the Hard Times Mine. On this 2½-hour tour you descend into a purpose-built mine complete with fuming, roaring, rattling machinery, 1.2km of tunnels and the crib room, often guided by former miners. Excellent tour conducted by guide who actually worked in the mines at Mount Isa. Very detailed explanation of how the process of mining, moving product and extracting iron ore, silver, zinc and copper happened.

Good place to go on the weekend, tour guide had many experiences and stories to share.

We did the underground this morning with Ian, great tour, the infrastructure in the tourist mine was amazing. Ian was good but not great. He worked at MIM in maintenance and in hindsight, it would be better to have a tourguide who actually did the mining. Ian could only answer half of our questions.Expensive tour but worth it especially having the Isa Experience Heritage Display" and Rodeo Hall of Fame" to look through after the tour."

A very informative tour in a custom built mine for tourists. I'm sure experiences will vary depending on what guide you have. We had Ian and whilst he was informative his mind drifted to far away places I'm sure at times. Plenty of stories to share and great to go underground and see how life was and is in the World of Isa mining.Well worth the visit, try to book ahead if you can, tours sell out quickly as there ain't a lot to do in Isa.

Great tour with knowledgeable tour guides. Probably only 5m underground, so take that into consideration for any party members with claustrophobia. Probably not the best for small children. Free photo op and they print them out for you. A good experience of an active minesite, though my geologist friend thought it was a bit sissy.

An excellent way to grasp the history of the mining in Mt Isa. A 4hr Tour that is quite expensive but worth budgeting for. $85 adult/$68 concession.
