Astounding the amount of effort put in by the Allan Ey to collect and arrange the 66,000 specimens. The kids were amazed and thrilled by all the bugs, butterflies and shells. Four kids under 10 spent over an hour wandering around without destroying anything - that's how engrossed they were! The curator was great with the children and gave heaps of information. Well worth the very small admission fee.

Had a lovely time at the Ayr Nature Museum. Their collection of insects, shells, rocks/fossils, and native fauna was impressive. So too was the host whose knowledge about the museum was fascinating. Allen's dedication to collecting and preserving these remarkable specimens is truly amazing. If you're ever in Ayr, I highly recommend visiting, but be sure to check that it's open.

What a fantastic place! I wasn’t really sure what we were going to find here, but it was so interesting and amazing. Loved all the displays. Very low cost to visit ($5 adults, $1 children). Would absolutely recommend you visit here if traveling through or to Ayr.

Wow, the amount of work that has gone into this display is amazing! The guide (son-in-law of the collector) was a font of knowledge and after introducing the collection allows you to take your own time to look closer. We spent an hour and really only glanced at everything. It really is a wonder how much is here: butterflies, insects, shells, ammonites, snake specimens, Queensland wood and stone samples, egg carvings etc, etc. Please note, they only take cash; something I've not used for months with COVID!

A neutral review; it was shut!Call before you go to check if it’ll be open. After waiting I sent a message with various opening days and times in the response. The stone walls outside are interesting though; no idea on the internal displays.
