Wild Horse Mountain Scenic LookoutYour might be like me and have driven on the Bruce Highway between Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast, for decades and have noticed the Wild Horse Mountain lookout up on high beside the road. But you have always been on the way somewhere and never had time to stop. Or you may be first time visitor and you see it.Well, it’s time to take the time to stop to explore this special spot and get some perspective about where you are and what is around you.Wild Horse Mountain is about an hour’s drive from Brisbane in perfect traffic conditions. From Brisbane, you turn off at Johnston Road, at the Shell service station, cross over the Bruce Highway, and turn right into Wild Horse, which takes you to the car park. From the car park, you head towards the gate and the 750 metre walk up the hill on a wide bitumen road. It gets tough towards the top, but take your time and look at views either side as you ascend. When you get to the top, there is lookout a large timber rotunda-type platform that offers stunning 360 degrees. There are many information diagrams and maps that describe all the landmarks in all directions. This is a place where you need to take a rest and take in the scenes a slow pace.Perhaps, take lunch with you and relax and enjoy the spectacular views. There are no toilets there, but I believe you can get water. But probably wise to take some with you.Now to can tick it off the bucket list.

Incredible sunset...Just cant believe how beautiful this panoramic view is.While climbing, please get hydrated , have sunnies on and be careful with mosquitoes. Other than that enjoy the view.See the photos attached.

The easiest of the glasshouse mountain walks by far and yet still requires some level of fitness as the gradient is very steep.Spectacular 360 degree views with huge visibility.Beautiful spot for sunset.

Fantastic view! Go up in the morning to see a beautiful sunrise and fog over the pine forests, or looking west to the glasshouse mountains. Absolutely stunning!Rather steep, but totally worth it.

The view was magnificent, and the steep climb was on a cement pathThis climb could be improved by placing resting spots staggered along the way up, as the climb gets steeper as you go and its really quite hard for a novice. A picnic table at the top would also be appreciated.

The walk up THE HILL is advised as STEP which is accessed by a concrete road path. 700 meters of continuous up hill and the grade feels uncomfortable and certainly gets the heart going.Passed by a guy running backwards down the hill. Good 360 degree views.Lots of bird sounds but only sighted small doves.Good winter walk

I did read the reviews before, but it was a bit steeper, thank i though it will be. It is doable though. While i was walking up, the rain started spitting a bit though and i was worried, if the way back is going to be slippery, as it was like road (see photos). With the rain there was a beautiful rainbow. The view is very nice. I saw a couple of dogs so must finally be a place they allow dogs, which is good.No toilets or bins again.I did go on a drive after with ny 4 wheel drive, there was some rough bits but it got through. The creek is not swimmable i think.

A lovely view. Heading up to Sunshine Coast from Brisbane, Wild Horse Mountain makes for a great stop and leg stretcher. A nice hike to the top with great 360 views of the area

The 700 metre walk up to the top is VERY STEEP. Perfect road but might be an idea to take some water with you. Once you reach the top it has beautiful 360° views. You can clearly see the glasshouse mountains, perfect opportunity to take some nice pictures.
