Pressures the students way too much, I know students who got depression after joining this school. The school doesn't even do that well academically, so all the pressure was for naught. Don't send your students here unless you want them to become severly depressed.

QASMT doesn’t really communicate efficiently. Teachers are reluctant to talk upon issues, a fear of facing problems or resolve them. They choose to keep silent which is not an acceptable attitude. You might feel lost and nobody care, you are told that one teacher is teaching many students and each individual could be ignored. When you are trying to find a place that’s you could feel be loved and belongings, it might not come up anything like this. What are you going to do? Make a sound decision.

Some teachers are nice, however others aren't, and this can often lead to biased marking. The research center ladies as well, OMG they are sooo annoying. Everything here is expensive, with hats coming in at $80.00, and tuckshop food being $6 for the main meal. Overall, certain teachers are good, but the rest of the school is horrible

Like many selective schools QA just creates an unbelievable amount of pressure for the students and just doesn't make any sense. If you want your children to grow than you have to put them in a school that just doesn't focus on academics. I know someone who was admitted into this school but dropped due to the pressure and stress it caused him. Overall, you should allow your child to be free, they will figure out life on their own and trust me a selective school isn't a solution or a way to create a well-established future for them. But please remember this is just my opinion and if you really feel like this is where you want your child to go then I respectfully stand by your decision.

The biggest problem with this school is how its designed to pressure students so much it nearly breaks them. The expectations here are so high that it's almost impossible to meet them properly. How I see it, QASMT is a learning opportunity: it is only good if you are able to best take advantage of the resources given to you. The resources given are very good, although the staff who create it seem to lack much loyalty with the school, often leaving within the 3 year contracts they were given. In my year, around 20-30 studnets have left, likely due to the reasons listed earlier.Admin also seems to be very adamant in keeping the school heritage" and "perception"

The visual art teacher is a really stubborn person. She forgets us to teach some things. One time the entire class said to the teacher that they where not taught something but then the teacher got mad at the class and said we where lying to her. If you ask her a question she shames you in front of the entire class for not knowing the answer. This is why the students are afraid to ask questions and struggle to learn. I'm not trying to be mean here i'm just stating what's happening. On the other end the house deans at the school are really nice and suportive. Most of the teachers at the school are really harsh but again the house deans are really helpful.

they say its 50 mins of homework per subject per week. this is a literal lie, don't believe them. its at least 1.5 hours per subject per week, which is freaking ridiculous. also some teachers are super mean

We transferred our kids from excellent state schools for the IB; a broad liberal arts program where all subjects are equal. Students should be encouraged to pursue all their passions, talents and goals. However, this school unapologetically monopolises students’ time. My kids’ development in music suffered severely and they stopped reading books for enjoyment. Parents' feedback is frequently dismissed and there is a lack of transparency. They try to recreate all the things I hate about posh private schools. There's a high staff turnover with 80+ staff leaving 2020-2022. Compared to other prominent state high schools, the fees are not worth the experience. I really don’t know what I paid for. Overall it’s been joyless.1/2023 UPDATE: My kid achieved an IB 44 through their own dedication and by effectively ensuring that they maintained a balanced lifestyle. They did not participate in any additional paid tuition. They went to sleep by 9:30pm every night. They curiously only ever received silver awards at school and were never afforded any opportunities saved for only the “highest”achievers. (Don’t let the 5s and 6s get you down students! In the real world they are great and tomorrow is another day to shine!) My kid opted out of doing ICAS in y12 and flew under their “favourite students” radar. Lo and behold they have been awarded a top university scholarship entirely on their own merits. I’m very proud of the kid! I do thank the teachers who my kid described as “nice”. One particular English Teacher “made students smarter just by being in the room with him”. High praise, indeed! The House Dean was also friendly. Unfortunately, it appears that another dozen teachers have left the school. I will remain on 2 stars for this reason and because my experience as a parent was traumatic. Parents, monitor your kid’s wellbeing closely and don’t be afraid to ask questions. FYI In Year 12, you’ll have to pay $135 for formal, $365 for valedictory dinner and $270 for a senior conference held on school grounds which includes $115 for catering… unless you choose to opt out.Edit: Dropping down to 1 star due to the dissolution of the P&C Association.

QASMT is a great school if you want to get shouted at by an old white woman for using your phone at 8 01 am because it is against school policy to use your phone after 8 00 am I mean come on how did you not know that
