Bought their $250 AUD/kg Northern Japanese bluefin tuna toro and it was contaminated with a fishy, mackerel-like aftertaste. Absolutely disgusting and a waste of money.

Very rude staff.I purchased a blue fin tuna belly and asked them to slice it. The lady sliced in a wrong way, and I immediately asked her to slice to a correct way. This because fishes should slice according to the lines on the meat! She said back to me, this is how I cut it. And then after she finished it she just chuck back the box to the counter. ITS $99.9 per kilo... not $9.90! She really have an attitude problem. I didn't ask for her name because there are people waiting to be served. Previously I have great experience with other staff members. That's why I going back!

Ordered a large amount of fresh seafood for Mother's day and was disappointed to find half the oysters were off and the tuna belly sashimi off as well. It was not edible as sashimi though it was priced and marketed as sashimi grade.I am very disappointed in the quality sold here, especially as the price felt marked up. I understand in this economy things have become more expensive but please at least maintain the freshness of produce that you are selling your customers.

After 45 years of regular, often weekly visits, to the Sydney Fish Markets, our first choice is always DeCosti's. We have never been disappointed with a purchase made here.

Very disappointing. I bought a LOT of seafood for my son's birthday celebration. The lady serving me took two lobsters into a back room to cut them in half and they were wrapped when she returned. When we unwrapped them they had been cleaned and yet were bone dry. The lobster meat was not fresh at all, shriveled, dry and tasteless. I think I got different older lobsters. The sashimi was not tasty. Other than by texture we couldn't tell the difference between the 3 different kinds I bought. The prawns were strongly over salted but were reasonably fresh - 1 star. Looking in the display case were many older soft and mushy prawns. I decided then I wouldn't come back .. maybe the weekend is fresh but Tuesdays are not! The oysters were ok but Pacific oysters usually have a creamy taste these needed dipping sauce for flavour.Good advertising not backed up with good seafood.

When I was in Sydney one off time for dinner my friends pay in this PLACE fresh fish large , so can fit in oven I can say is very nice.

Decosti is now transitioning to GetFish and it right at the entrance towards the Sydney Fish Market. I highly recommend everyone to come here instead of the main area that everyone crowds to with overpriced seafood! The seafood/oysters here are cheaper than the main area and its so much quieter, also bought a pack of sea urchin roe for only $29.99!

By far the best seafood in Sydney. Always fresh and only the best available. Might pay a bit more in some cases but the quality is outstanding. The prawns are so juicy and large with so much variety. I have always purchased my seafood for all occasions from DeCosti and I will continue to do so. The customer service is fast and the staff are very helpful. I recommend you stop in at DeCosti Seafood when visiting the seafood markets.

Rather busy place but did not expect the subpar seafood we got here. Bought 3 raw blue swimmer crabs and a kilogram of prawns from this place, they look so nice and bright and fresh but taste mushy when we went home to cook them. The worse thing is that the prawns were so mushy and had a disgusting plastic taste. Needless to say we didn’t finish them and ended up throwing most of it away. Only one out of the three crabs tasted not mushy (but still didn’t taste nice). We ended up with an upset stomach after eating those disgusting prawns.Definitely won’t be back again.

I shop here ( or used to ) at least 3 times a month. The other day I bought 2 dozen oysters and when I took them home in a cooler bag with ice ( 10 minutes later) I opened the trays wrapped in cling film and the most disgusting smell came from the package. The top tray looked fine but the oysters in the 2nd tray were pink and yellow. I called De Costi customer service at their head office and they had nothing to do with the fish market branch. I then complained to the shop in the fish market and they said it was impossible. I wasn't looking for refund - just thought they should be aware of dangerous heath practices and they couldn't have cared less.
