Dave from Metropolitan Electrical arrived on time, was super professional and friendly which hid the fact that I was about to be overcharged for moving a data point from one room to another. Although happy with the result I'm really disappointed with the price. Suggest you go elsewhere for the same result at a fraction of the cost.

AVOID - DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!!! I called Metropolitan to book in a fault find, diagnosis & repair for our evaporpative air con (as an 02 error keeps appearing on the control screen), and had to pay $141.90 over the phone 'in order to book a tradesman'. WEIRD.I asked for a rough quote for the work (either an hourly rate or ballpark figure to find out the problem), but the woman said they don't give quotes over the phone. WEIRD.The tradesman himself, while very nice, told me that under company policy they don't do fault finding or repair without a full service first, but said that he could provide me a quote for the service.I said, 'wait, you can't even tell me what the problem is?'He said 'no not without a service'.I said, so all I'm getting for my $141.90 is you coming to tell me you want $1

Is it a scam?Very detailed phone scripts, long legal letter on your booked confirmation email. Makes out like they are 24/7 service. Your AC only breaks when it is hot so you want it done fast. You need to pay $140+ in advance to get they guy come (tomorrow). OK. And he will quote before doing anything . OK he is coming to do a service/ clean and hopefully that fixes it but if not and they need to replace parts they will let you know what it will cost. Nope.The guy coming out is to just say your AC does not work (I know that). They can get someone out in 3 days ( 3 days - I though you were going to do it!). It will cost $2000+. Unless they find something wrong then they will charge more. Hang on wasn't it his job to do the quote now (if he was not going to fix it). If they find something then there will be another quote? Then why bother to send todays guy??? Plus once they are half way through what do you think the chance is they won't find something wrong. But" they will take the $2K off the price of a new unit. I bet there is a high rate of AC's "needing" to be replaced. Maybe 100%?So lots o pressure to accept the second booking. Pay $100 deposit. More legal emails.So I cancelled that and got someone else who can come on the same day. You book everything online. It is $200 to come and service. Maybe a really expensive part is broken and it cost another $2 - 400 to fix. There and then because they are simple machines
