Strait on the Beach
The service here has always been questionable, but the food was usually good enough to look past the bad service.However that’s definitely not the case anymore.Today we visited for the last time to pick up a takeaway (we’re locals). We got to the front and let them know we were there to pick up our order and were told to wait to the side. No worries, it must not have been ready yet. Except it was - it was sitting right next to the till. Eventually they called us back over to take the order, and we questioned why we’d been told to wait if it had been there (getting cold) the whole time. The response was, ‘we’re just really busy’.We opened it up when we got home to find two sad burgers and a box of incredibly limp, undercooked cold chips for $41. We won’t be back.

Strait on the Beach
Friendly staff,Beautiful breeze strait off the ocean. This place has location, great fresh food, unique settings and loads of smiles. Is popular so is generally busy. Our food was delivered to our table quickly 15-20 minutes at most. Drinks arrived earlier. Thank you it was a pleasure.

We went there on the public holiday in Queensland and had to pay a 15% surcharge, which I thought was a like high.The waitresses were very friendly and cleaned the tables as soon as you finished. There was some usual seating around the place.The day was a little overcast and windy, but that didn't bother us, as we were sitting under a shelter.The food was great and came out quick, considering it was very busy,Recommend to book.There is live music on Saturday's. Agreat place to take a group or love one and spent a afternoon, drinking and looking out to sea.

location was lovely and staff were nice. the food was not great, i had a chicken burger which i had asked to have without onion, lettuce, tomato and aioli but with cheese, they gave me a burger with the onion and aioli on it and the chicken was very tough to bite through. iced chocolate was good. not very good for what your paying for.

Great food - golden spot.Literally on the beach with indoor seating and heaps of outdoor seating which is shaded by the lovely trees and a safe beach for swimming right at the front.

The perfect laid back spot on your way up the coast. Hopped off our flight looking for a meal, this was the first place, and was great! Relaxed vibes right on the beach! Decent pub style meals, fully licensed too.

Neighbourhood gem, recommended by locals. Delicious toasted sandwiches at very reasonable price. Outdoor seating have fantastic view facing the water. Lovely spot

Yummy scones with coconut cream. Avo with smashed feta really good. Nice view friendly staff busy but meals came out quick. Nice outdoor dining area

Strait on the Beach
Straight on the beach is the hub for community in holloways beach. With live music on Saturdays and ukele night on Wednesdays. I've been seeing some of the faces near on every day and is in a great location right on the beach. Beautiful venue. The food has been hit or miss the few times we've gone. We've gotten a pretty awful parmi before but gave them another go tonight and had one of the best calamari dishes in Cairns.Definitely going to keep trying this restaurant.
