As tenants our dealings with Locale were horrible. Absolutely non responsive, dishonest, have taken unauthorised payments off our credit card for expenses we weren't liable for. Had to go to the Tribunal to get our bond back as well as the money they stole.Their complete lack of communication has not only cost us, but the landlords also missed out on three weeks of rent so to save yourself Money and the stress, do not use this company.Reading the other reviews it is clear that they treat all tenants this way, so can only highly encourage other tenants in the same situation to follow through and make tribunal orders against them if necessary.

Unprofessional, unethical, dishonest, tardy, rude, disrespectful.Right from the start we had issues with Locale that mirror other negative reviews.From turning up late to scheduled meetings, handing over the property to us still dirty after requesting and being told it would be cleaned before we moved in, being non responsive to maintenance requests (informed that all 3 air-conditioning units were not working mid Nov and no response received until early Jan. Only remedied in late May after going to the tribunal that also ended up costing the owner a decrease in rent for the period), incorrect details such as incorrect move in date entered into tenancy agreements, not entering the owners contact details on the tenancy agreement (when I asked for the owners contact details Locale refused to provide them. It is a legal requirement to provide this on agreements).No spare key was held by Locale for the letterbox when I requested to cut a key we had misplaced, it was suggested we pay for a replacement lock at $360.After withdrawing authority for automatic payments both verbally and in writing and opting for the cash non fee option stated on my tenancy agreement, I was told they do not accept cash and Locale continued to attempt to withdraw funds from my account, some of which were not rent and had not been agreed to for payment.During our tenancy with Locale I made 2 submissions to NCAT and one to Fair Trading NSW.I was recently informed by Fair Trading NSW that my complaints were valid and warranted and further action from their investigation team would be taken.I found Alex unresponsive and Joseph the Company Director to be rude and bully like, talking over me, even in a tribunal mediation.After finding the owners contact details by other means, I let them know of the issues we were having with Locale.The owner of our apartment has recently stopped using Locale as property managers.Whether a landlord or a tenant, I would recommend NOT using this company.

I would rate 0 stars if i could. This is the worst experience I have ever had of a Real Estate Agency. No wonder Real Estate Agents rate low on every trust and ethics indices when you have operations like this in the community. Right from day 1, we experienced such unprofessionalism it was almost comical. When arranging to pick up our keys and sign our lease, Alex asked us to come in earlier than proposed. We came in at the time suggested and waited over 15mins outside their closed office only to find he'd been down the road having coffee and a chat with the barista. Once realising we were standing there and he was late, he raced up the road and rushed us through the process in a frazzled state, yet with no apology for his lateness. You know what they say about first impressions. It was from this point forward that for every maintenance issue raised we would experience months of delays in resolving it. When following up on issues we received one line unhelpful responses. We also experienced rudeness and unprofessionalism from Joe who would speak over the top of you and downplay every issue. The biggest issue was our air conditioning not working, which we discovered about a month after moving in. We notified in November and experienced 3 months of delay tactics from them over the hottest Summer on record. With the bushfires, we couldn't escape from the heat as opening our windows would let smoke in. We followed up multiple times, but still nothing was done. They let us suffer. After many sleepless nights and a chest infection following exposure to smoke from having windows open, they finally sent a technician to investigate. It was deemed that the air con needed replacing. Locale came back with a proposal to fix 1 out of 3 air con units in the apartment, which was the 1 in the living area. This meant we wouldn't have air con in the bedroom to sleep. After much back and forth about the fact that 3 units are on the condition report, and 1 is not enough to cool the apartment, we had no choice but to seek resolution at NCAT. From looking at previous comments, it seems Locale are frequent flyers at NCAT. We won the hearing, as a professional trades confirmed that 1 unit was not enough to cool the apartment at high temps. Joe proceeded to argue with facts and science, but the outcome was at least for a 2nd unit to be replaced in the bedroom. The owner got in contact directly with us and it was clear that they hadn't been following up on her directions to them either. It seems they were either lazy or were deliberately blocking a resolution for all parties. Although we have many other examples like this throughout our tenancy, the only other worth calling out is the attempted unauthorised deduction of funds from our account to cover the cost of a replacement letterbox key.  This is after trying to make us pay for an entire new locking system because they failed to mitigate their risk and cut copies of the original key. After a month of back and forth, and rudeness from them, we had no choice but to submit an application to NCAT. Interestingly, that afternoon, they 'found' a key to issue us. Following this, they sent an invoice for a price we were verbally quoted (as they made us contact a locksmith initially) but didn't provide an official quote. Then they just put through the transaction to deduct the funds. We reported this matter to Fair Trading and believe an investigation is underway. From reading other reviews I can see we are not alone in our experiences of this business. I'd encourage anyone who has had to deal with anything like this from this business to do the same. As property owners ourselves, we would avoid an untrustworthy, rude and unethical business such as this to manage our properties. Despite this, I really hope that somehow, eventually, they come to the realisation that this is bad business practice and would take on the feedback to change their ways and approach with how they treat people. Unfortunately I don't think they can look past their own egos to make any positive change.

My four years tenancy experience with Alexander at Locale properties was simply fabulous and just came to an end. From the inspection day to our moving in, through out our stay and the bond processing at the end of tenancy, Alex was always there to help and walk the extra step. I recommend using the services.
