We very much enjoyed our downhill cycle on the newly opened 27km Great Valley Trail from Harriotville to Bright. The trail follows the beautiful Ovens River and joins the Murray to Mountains trail in Bright. As the trail is nicely sealed with hot mix, it is suitable for all types of bikes.

Autumn- What a perfect time of the year to enjoy this epic ride from Wangaratta to Bright and beyond! Riding through the lines of autumn colours!! The sound of crispy dry leaves… the crispy fresh autumn air!! Aaahhhh! The wonderful companionship just makes everything perfect!!! Anne, I just can’t thank you enough for delivering the whole thing with such perfection! Thanks!! First day was 49km from Wangaratta to Beechworth (few lovely pubs and good food) where we stayed two nights to make a extra day of 41km to the newly finished (in April) Beechworth Yakarandah trail, (I always have a soft spot for Yakarandah)- including 15km local trail to Osborne Flats. Oops! We had to shuttle back to Beechworth as 12 of us decided that the first 4 km bumpy beginning and steep downhill is not in our best interest to go back up!! The 3rd day of 80km from Beechworth to Bright was made fun and memorable with yummy lunch at Mytrelford. On the 4th day, we chose to do the newly completed 60km return trip on Great Valley trail from Bright to Harrietville (we did the short scenic trail to Wandiligong same time last year). The bakery next to Harrietville museum is such a work of passion from two ex Marine scientists from Sweden and Canada - boasting their vanilla slice and pringles!!! The relics from the gold mining days in the 1800’s adds so much to the depth of this place!! Wow!! 230km over 4 days to the most scenic autumn venues with great company and support!! How lucky are we!! Get out there and enjoy the beautiful outdoors that Australia had to offer! Shuttles have made our life easy too!

A beautiful 27km path between Harrietville and Bright and beyond, taking you through the local bush land and along the Ovens river side. There are a number of places to see and things to do along the way. The new sealed section between the Trout farm and the Tawonga Gap road is awesome, with nice smooth pavement and lots of signage, it winds through the trees and along the river which makes for a beautiful setting to ride or walk in.

Mountain range, creek, farm land, forest. This trail has them all! 99% are paved road. Very easy on road bikes. Must-ride trail in Autumn.

Finding space to relax, get back to nature and unwind is a must in this day and age. Finding this lovely spot helped relax me.The peaceful nature and pebbled river help wash and carry away your worries.Nice spots to sit, play and walking distance to whatever you might need.

It was my extreme pleasure to ride on this trail several times on my pushbike (not electric) several times on our holiday in December 2022 - from Bright only as far as the Mount Beauty torn off, and once to Harrietville and back - not bad for a 75 year old. The ride was excellent, and the prettiest place I have ever seen.

Stunning and Awesome Scenery, Rail Trail 95% sealed road. Relaxed ride with some minor elevation, temperature warm to hot on summer days. Get to Reward yourself with some refreshing swim in the freshwater river in Harrietville. Good food at Bella’s Cafe. Once your back in Bright, a nice cold beer would be a good reward @ Bright Brewery. Will try an Autumn Ride for a change in scenery and colour explosions and cooler temperatures
