Generous and welcoming, this is the local that I wished is in my neighbourhood.Everything we ordered from the traditional Greek/Mediterranean menu is simply delicious. The smooth, nutty tarama (Greek style fish roe dip), the meltingly soft beef cheeks and lamb

Enjoyed one of the best dining experiences I’ve had in Melbourne, here at Sowl. The service was exceptional, the staff were very tentative and the food was delicious! We savoured every bite.

The lobster tarts were awesome! Lovely butter taste to those shells. Lamb was bomb! Fell of the bones and the taste was great! Bread was not too bad and the capsicum, walnut and honey dip was nice too. Most importantly, we had great service from Philip! He was such a great service personnel. We ordered pork and i did not quite enjoy it. He took it off the bill for me and also offered us two glasses of black muscats! His service was awesome! Thank you, Philip.

So... Overall, it's a place to try next level food of taste and presentation of modern Greek cuisine, that what I would say. Extremely interesting menu, because of that I gave 5 stars on food, plus the Chef Giannis explained with details couple of things to the all group regarding the methods of cooking the dishes - impressive! Service needs to be a bit slow as we felt that we had been rushed a bit... The environment is quite not what I expected, too dark restaurant, I observed other tables and people were struggling to read the menu and lady next table got her torch on it for. However, I think that I would be back soon as I really want to discover more of the creative Chef.

We read all the reviews so we decided to give this place a go. With high expectations, we were very much let down. We ordered lamb of the Gods, lobster tart, scallops, oven baked potatoes and gnocchi. None of them wowed us. In fact, the lamb was flavourless, scallops were salty, lobster tart was alright, potatoes were soggy and tasteless, gnocchi was shocking. I'm not sure if it was an off day for the chef considering the great reviews all around but we were very disappointed.

Really loved my visit to SOWL last week. Had a 6pm appointment on Thursday night and it was quiet at that time but great as we had extremely attentive service from all staff who were very helpful in explaining the menu and the owner (I assume) also served us which was a nice touch. Food was amazing, lamb just melted in your mouth. Didn't have that much flavour in the liquid with it but the lamb was cooked amazing. Probably wouldn't order the grilled veggies again they were a bit hard and tasted very grilled but the beetroot and goats curd was so delicious and the cocktails were yummy. Would definitely go back! It was a great experience.

Fancy restaurant with good food.Had the lamb pasta and the pork scotch. The food was very good. The portioning seemed small but it was still filling.Expect to spend at least $30/person, $45/person a more reasonable estimate
