Emus Beach Resort

I made a last minute booking through a third party website that didn’t notify the hotel, and when I called ahead a couple HOURS after they had closed, they went out of my way to sort out a room despite having every reason to tell me no. Absolutely amazing customer service from Paul, and the rooms were beautiful and comfortable. Will definitely be coming back again, with a little more warning next time ;)

Fantastic place to stay. Rooms are clean and beds are super comfy.Was a great alternative to staying in Rockhampton, as it’s a beautiful little beach side town with easy access to Keppel Island.Would highly recommend this place for location, cleanliness & the very friendly staff that look after you from the minute you arrive to the second you leave.Love love love this place

Me and my partner thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this resort! Our beds were extremely comfy, the rooms were spotless and the shower was huge! Also, because it was my birthday and I had been travelling all day the owner Paul opened the bar for me and gave me a free bottle of champagne. I have never been treated so well as a guest and will definitely be returning!

Had an amazing stay at Emus beach resort! Best sleep I’ve had so far up the East Coast as the beds are incredibly comfy! All the other facilities are class too, the bar is great fun and all the staff were so lovely! Always wanted to go to Great Keppel Island so it was perfect to stay at Emus because they brought me to the ferry and picked me up after my day trip! It’s a perfect getaway, 10/10 would recommend!

I made a booking for two nights a week before our stay. I received an email says our booking was cancelled because the premise was closed on the day we were supposed to check in. I called them to find out what happened. A man answered the phone and said that the premise was open but fully booked, he doesn't know what happened, and he also said it's not his fault, he did not even care that we didn't have anywhere else to stay. The way he treated me on the phone was so unprofessional and I have never experienced it in my life. He was not listening to what I had to say, how I felt and the last thing he said was ' OH SHUT UP ' and then he hung up. That was incredibly rude and and unprofessional.

Incredibly clean and well presented room for the price - plus a comfortable bed too! I’m extremely fussy with hygiene as well so I was pleasantly surprised. I was also impressed with the little homely decor additions to the room, a nice touch. Super friendly staff, the manager (can’t remember his name sorry!) went above and beyond for us to make sure we were comfortable and I observed him very patiently and respectfully training a new staff member who was checking us in. Well done guys, very happy with our stay.

Loved everything about the hostel! The rooms are fantastic with amazing beds, a nice bathroom, a tv and even a balcony!! De staff is really friendly and the kitchen and pool are good as well! Paul you’re the best, thanks for everything!

Very friendly staff but the hostel is not inviting at all. It seems to be made just for revenue, not any love into detail like other hostels. A lot of cockroaches in the rooms (even dead ones not cleaned up) and almost _no_ internet at all for additional pricing. Do NOT do the barbecue in house. Absolutely not recommended for travellers. One night was already too much.

When I phoned the owner to ask if the kitchen is fully equipped, he said yes. The kitchen was a disgrace. There was only 6 coffee mugs and 3 tablespoons for guest of 10+ private rooms and a dorm. There was no tin opener and when I phoned the owner twice (which is suppose to be the emergency number as well) the Saturday evening, he didn't' answer or phoned back. Other guest just said there is no tin opener. Fortunately there was a restaurant opposite the street, so I took my kids there for supper, but ended up costing me $60 for a meal instead of $8. The tap in the kitchen sprayed all over, the stove was dirty. There were cockroaches in the kitchen and our bathroom. And an old piece of bread still left in our room and dirty pillow cases. But I can take all of this. What I can not take was the absolute rudeness of the owner. I forgot something at the resort and he was so disrespectful, rude and unwilling to help me. Compared to other places I've stayed before (and I stayed at a lot!), this guy's resort has so much potential, but his customer service is a disgrace and I would much rather stay again at the Beach hostel in Yeppoon. Next time I'll pay $15 more, and at least I would have a better experience somewhere else.
