The Birdsville Bakery is a destination in itself when you have been camping in the Simpson Desert. We were all looking forward to a treat at the bakery.You won’t miss it. Thanks to the great signage!We aussies are well catered for even in the most remote outposts. All food and coffees were very much enjoyed, as good as you will find in any city.It was where we sat around discussing the plan for tackling the Simpson Desert that first day, nervous about conquering those sand dunes and it’s where we converged to celebrate our return to civilisation with a coffee or chai and pie. Can’t get any more Australian than that!

Stopped here for some lunch. You do pay Outback prices but it is delicious. We grabbed a pie, coffee and bread. I did think about the Camel Pie I was hesitant to try it in case I didn't like it. Staff were friendly. Indoor & outdoor seating.

Famous for its camel pies - which are ok but not extraordinary. Very good coffee, egg and bacon rolls are pre made and kept warm. Other selection of cakes a little disappointing for a country bakery. Owned by the same people as the pub
