As an older student of guitar I've found Ross's guidance really valuable - he understands the challenges and picks up on your strengths and weaknesses - and structures the class accordingly.And the classes are enjoyable - we always manage to have a laugh!

I picked up guitar six years ago at 67 and have been having lessons with Ross since then. He has been more than patient with my old fingers and flexible" sense of time! I enjoy our lessons and chats about music and whatever

Having no musical talent or ability I reached out to Ross to teach me guitar and I am very glad I did. He has helped me learn to play over the last four years and I have enjoyed every session. He is patient and highly professional in helping me achieve my music goals. The remote classes have also worked really well. Thank you for all of your support Ross, it is very much aprpeciated.

Ross is a fantastic teacher with extensive theory knowledge, great chops and experience in a wide variety of styles. He was my guitar teacher when I did Year 12 Guitar and I was more than pleased with his teaching.

Ross is a very professional and dedicated guitar teacher and learning from him is a fun and rewarding experience. He has been teaching me for 4 years and I have enjoyed every minute of it. Ross shows great empathy and is able to tailor his teaching to meet his students' changing needs. His technical and practical knowledge of music, playing and teaching are exemplary and he both inspires and motivates his students. I highly recommend Ross Helmot as a guitar teacher and coach to prospective students of any competency level.

Ross is one of those few guitar teachers who will actually listen and help you to focus on your goals, in contrast to many that force their own musical ideas on their students. He manages to keep it fun and low key, while at the same time providing dynamic and challenging ideas and exercises. Highly recommended.

When i was in my mid-lat 40’s i decided to take up guitar and just looked for a guitar teacher near me on the internet, found Ross and could not hav been luckier. Ross is a skilled guitarist, and a patient and knowledgeable teacher who just ‘gets’ music and understands the guitar. I have had so much fun and made so much progress as a guitarist in the last 7-8 years that i now play in a band, and playing guitar has become a massive part of my life. Ross is also a great bloke who I’m proud to say has become a mate. My daughter is now also one of his students. Couldn’t recommend him more highly.

I've known Ross for a long time now. He is a dedicated guitar teacher and performer who brings out the best in his students. I've watched some starting out as beginners go on to perform at their own shows. If you want someone that has the knowledge of music and the guitar along with someone who cares about you and what you are trying to achieve then Ross is your man.

I've been learning with Ross for a number of years now. The lessons are always fun, and he is always supportive and encouraging. I've also learnt a really good mix of songs. I love learning the guitar and a huge part of that is thanks to Ross.

Could not recommend Fun on the Frets more highly. Ross is a brilliant teacher: he is patient, encouraging and challenges you to develop your abilities.I had never played guitar before starting lessons with Ross and can see so much growth in four years of lessons.
