This restaurant is one of my faves! Not tonight….Very poor service! Waited for 1 hour 10 mins for entree’s..I like leisurely eating and hate to be rushed - this was way too long!Good always tasty! Service let’s it down!

We had a nice dinner on a Sunday. We ordered 2 vegetarian curries: paneer tiika masala and a potato one. The cheese nam was great and the mango lasi too! Service was pretty quick and also was the food. The environment is chilled and nice.

If you're looking for an Indian restaurant in North Sydney you really can't go past the authentic and delicious flavours this crew has to offer. We eat here all the time and the food is the best Indian we've tried in North Sydney. We love supporting local businesses and we have found The Colonial in Neutral Bay to offer an excellent range of menu options and an easy ordering system online. Highly recommend giving this one a try! 5 stars for service too!!

Curries were fresh and good level of spice. We were in a big group so the staff helped with ordering the right amount to plead both the vege and meat eaters. Beer was cold and flowing.

We ordered takeaway via Menulog yesterday and noted the beautiful packaging, it does look very beautiful and upmarket. Before it used to be plain brown bag and plastic containers nothing fancy. Though from memory I thought the butter chicken tasted better way back, it's sweet now which my partner agreed to. Lamb korma mild was beautiful and will reorder this. This was our Indian take away go to place when we still live in the 2089 area.

I left this place perfectly satisfied. Will highly recommend the Goa Fish Curry, medium-spicy, paired with their beautiful fragrant rice, decadent garlic nan, topped with sweet mango chutney :)

I’ve been to many Indian restaurants in Sydney & especially the Uk and this place doesn’t disappoint. Great flavour dishes & the stuff are great. Nice little Gem to add to my restaurants. Will be back again.

Came here with my friends due to having 30% off on TheFork. Wouldn’t honour the discount. Also found some prices were increased on the bill (which we only found afterwards) such as 3L beer jug at $90.However, the food was very nice and the service (until the bill) was fantastic. Just a bit disappointed when you get bait & switched.

Passable indian food at premium prices - There is a lack of decent indian fare in Sydney, especially in lower north shore, hence due to a lack of options and close proximity have tried The Colonial a few times and this dinner last week rates its lowest in terms of taste / value for money. For entrees we ordered tandoori chicken which was ok at best, adraki lamb cutlets was terrible with the quality of lamb questionable and rubbery, the paneer tikka was ok apparently didn't taste it myself. For mains we had Chicken Korma and Butter Chicken both. curries had tiny 3 pieces of chicken at best, not sure what I'm paying $25 for...the naans were really good though, enjoyed the masala and garlic ones. Will I be back? Probably not unless I run out of options.

The food is very tasty and the service is friendly.Their set family menu is a great value and highly recommend it.The spice level is as per customer's request mild, medium, hot.Over all a great place to enjoy a meal with family and friends
