Shame they are closing down after 43 years of service to our community. Always got my lights repaired at Sothside Lighting no other lighting shop offered this service.

Very impressed by this business. I needed to purchase a large quantity of desk lamps to outfit an office. Southside lighting didn't have enough units of the model I wanted in stock (understandably: it was a lot of units), but ordered them in for me. They turned up amazingly quickly. Accounting for transport time, Southside and their supplier must have processed my order pretty much instantly after I placed it. Very rare to find such a swift response from any retailer. I received the goods much faster than I would have by ordering from an online supplier myself. I highly recommend utilising Southside Lighting.

Service was terrible. I only found out some info by over listening to someone else lucky enough to get assistance. The range of products was reasonably large, but not much really impressed me. Still, it was the lack of service that was meant no sale. Found a much better place on the other side of fyshwick

Consistently great service from a family owned business. An electrician friend warned me that cheap light fittings warp, discolour or even burn out prematurely owing to cheap cable. He referred me to Southside Lighting as, in his words, they don't stock junk." So you may sometimes pay a little more for something that lasts a lot longer between electrician's visits."

I received excellent service when I visited the shop today. The salesman who served me (sorry I didn't get your name) went out of his way to solve my problem which meant I could go on using the light fitting I brought to him for a few more years at least. I was delighted. Thank you again.

Their lights are way, waaay overpriced (I'm talking 30-45% on average!) They're not willing to price match, and have a terribly unhelpful website. (No listed prices - probably because they're not competitively priced; no model numbers or item name and descriptions; just a single picture per product. Lazy.) In-store customer service is patchy: some are helpful, some are downright snooty. Save yourself a lot of money and buy elsewhere, seriously.

Sadly, I don't know the name of the lady who helped me. I was after a particular style of pendant shade which they didn't have in stock however she brought out a catalogue with plenty of styles to choose from. And I will give her extra credit as the day I went in, I had been having a full on day at work, had a thumping headache and I was abrupt with her (for which I apologised for later) despite that, she still took the time to get prices and call me back. Very happy with the service. To be perfectly honest, if the shoe was on the other foot, I wouldn't have made the effort she did for a customer who was as rude as I was ☹

We had a great experience dealing with these guys while building our house. A lot of our other suppliers let us down, but Southside Lighting was completely professional. Their advice was also down to earth and knowledgeable, saving us hundreds of dollars on our lighting bill. They're not the fanciest place in Canberra, but they were rock solid for us.
