Together grounds 1,2 and 3 form the Calwell District Playing Fields which is one of the largest and highest use sportsgrounds in Canberra. The grounds are accessed off Were Street and have extensive parking areas. The large Calwell shopping precinct is only a five minute drive from the grounds.

Ground 1 has a canteen block with toilets attached. There aretwo combination fields and one football field and all are floodlit to training standard and in winter are used primarily for football by the Brindabella Blues Club-both junior and senior. In the summer months the fields are used for softball by the South Tuggeranong Softball Association. The ground is also used for Oztag competitions in the summer evenings.
