Worth a visit. But beware. Approximately 78 stairs up to the top of the lighthouse. Last 10 were straight up a ladder.

Please note review not based on items other side of ticket barrier.A lot of lighthouses in Australia are free access, so we hadn’t expected or researched this one and it was ticketed. We planned to have a coffee stop on Great Ocean and couldn’t justify the $80 entry for four adults to have a drink (which was inside ticketed section).Yes we didn’t research prior to arriving re tickets. However disappointing getting there and not being able to grab a coffee or quick fresh air by quick wander to lighthouse. One star as toilets accessible, and one star for friendly guy who agreed it was an expensive coffee stop when politely explaining cafe entrance required a ticket per adult.

A lovely snapshot of how life used to be for the lighthouse workers. This place is lovely. They ask $19 for an entrance fee but it goes towards the maintenance and upkeep of the site as well as the many employees working there doing tours. As you walk in, there's a replica shipwreck. A short walk and it'll take you to a small building that explains all the dinosaurs that were found local to the area. Next to that, there's a residence that was used as a flag and telegraph station with original items from the time. The lighthouse is accessible via a small winding staircase and there is a worker at the top with a number of original parts. You're able to see a full view of the coast up there. There's also a Cafe on-site for having a quick bite and drink before finding your way out. Tours start from 11am and run periodically until about 4pm.Well worth the visit.

Unfortunately travelling solo couldnt go with my dog.Understand its a national park however its a area in which each case i think should be assessed by staff or a one dog at a time policy or bookings essential if have a dog with you as travelling solo and weather dependant its not ok to leave dog in car for an extended period to go look.Staff where friendly however.

Fun day out with my daughter. The drive in is interesting. You get to see koalas and how they've stripped the trees, wallabies, cows, echidnas and many other animals if you look close enough. We spent roughly an hour at the Lighthouse. You can climb up near the top and walk around. Be prepared it's quite windy up there. There are also a couple of small buildings to look at involving dinosaur history in the area and naval history. There is also toilets and a cafe there. I'd recommend it for kids 8 years and older or history buffs.

It is a 15km approx drive from the Great Ocean Road.Cape Otway Lighthouse is the oldest surviving lighthouse on mainland Australia and considered the most significant. This leading attraction on the Great Ocean Road is a must for all visitors.Built in 1848, the lighthouse known as the ‘Beacon of Hope,’ sits 90 metres above the pristine ocean of Bass Strait.Hundreds of lives were lost along this shipwreck coast – a sad but fascinating history which led to the building of the Lightstation on the cliffs edge. For many thousands of 19th century migrants, who spent months travelling to Australia by ship, Cape Otway was their first sight of land after leaving Europe, Asia and North America.A self-guided experience to explore the following:1848 Cape Otway LighthouseClimb the Lighthouse1850’s Keepers Quarters and Workshop1859 Telegraph StationWWII Radar BunkerWhale Interpretation SiteLightkeeper’s CafeGift ShopHistory Talks running throughout the day (included)TICKET PRICE – Adult: $19.50 / Child: $7.50 / Family: (2 Adults 4 children) $49.50 / Concession: $17.50Pre-school Children: FREE

Keep in mind the Otway Lighthouse will close to visitors at 5pm. So I took the walk on the left hand side (next to the public toilets) and was rewarded with views over high cliffs and a rather tame Echidna!

What a great tourist attraction. It was well organised, well set out with history on display. For $19 per person you can go up into the lighthouse. This was a highlight. So interesting with amazing views. Worth going out of your way to visit. It was about 12km in from the highway. Plus we saw a wild kangaroo which was a special bonus. Cafe normally open but closed today due to staff shortages. Plenty of places there to have a picnic style lunch though. Really friendly/ helpful staff. Thank you.
