So happy to find a beautiful bakery near my homeI used to travel to Bentleigh to get sourdough bread but not anymore. The olive bread is crunchy outside and soft inside - exactly the way I want.

Madame Sourdough
A hidden gem, the croissants and sourdough products at Madame Sourdough are amongst the best in Victoria. The quality is better than many of the known bakeries in the hip, inner city suburbs of Melbourne and the prices are very reasonable. The hardest decision will be choosing what to buy! We grab a loaf, croissants and try something new each time. Worth the drive.

Have been a regular customer and love the food there. Made a large purchase last Saturday and 2 items were missing. My son has just alerted me to this. What do you suggest I do? I still have the receipt.

It’s a sad state of times we live in where ridiculous prices are becoming the norm. As good as they are, there are two things that get me:1) The plain croissant is sweet. It has got sugar. It shouldn’t. The choc croissant is even sweeter since the pastry around the chocolate is also sweet.2) They don’t pay the Balwyn Main Street rents but charge the same and the prices have continued to go up.What they do good is in every other review and I agree with them. Jalapeño focaccia is like crack to me.

Picked up a Pepper and Parmesan Sourdough loaf today for our lunchtime sandwiches, so delicious and fresh! Amazing flavour and texture, highly recommended. They can also slice your loaf for you on site. Can't wait to come back and try all their tasty looking focaccias and sweet treats on offer too!

Madame Sourdough
A friend of mine introduced me to Madame Sourdough recently. I couldn't believe I didn't know this place having lived so close to it for years. The pastries are superb. My favourite is the almond croissant. My only complaint is that they only open on Friday, Saturday and Sunday and I have to get there early in the morning if I seriously want a chance to be successful in getting something lol
