Absolutely amazing! So much to see! Our guides showed us around and explained all the history of not only the building but also the local area. Most extensive collection of the good old days" that I've seen."

It is a great experience but good to call them and book the tour. We'll worth the trip, time spent with the volunteers to help guide you and friends family.

We had a private tour, I would have preferred looking at my own leisure, but our guide knew his stuff. Go at your pleasure.

I think it is so important that the town recognises the importance that it played in the development of and history of the Brisbane Valley Rail. The Heritage Centre enables you to appreciate what the town and life was like in the days gone by. While the Yarraman Railway Station was move from its original site to the Heritage Centre, you can visit the station site which is a very short drive away.

Thanks to Steve for his friendly welcome and generous tour. There's a lot of things here, of varying interest and depth, but easy enough to spend as much or as little time as you want in whichever section. Exhibits were quite enlightening on the post-colonial history of the area (even if it was a bit depressing that it seems to have mostly consisted of felling trees, raising cows, and sending boys off to war).Would have been nice to have more on the indigenous history of the region instead of just a tiny token section at the end.

If you follow your nose driving from Brisbane Yarraman is about 3 or 4 hours away going in a northwesterly direction. The country town is one of those places that are off the beaten track as far as tourists' locations go. But despite that isolation its picturesque rural and mountain views give the Yarraman Heritage Centre much loved charm. This rambling old mansion that is in the process of being restored was used by the catholic church as an orphanage for children about 2 hundred years ago and when I was there I still could hear the pitter patter of their feet from the upstairs rooms. The extensive display in the war memorial section of the Heritage Centre is a poignant reminder of how much our war veterans living and dead have contributed to Australia.

Interesting local and rail heritage centre. Along the road from Yarraman to the BVRT head. Friendly and informative staff.
