Ive eaten here many times,,, Tonight food was okay,,, but the service was ordinary,, i know 1 new staff member was on,, But after finishing my mains i waited 20 min for my plate to be removed,, and i had to ask for this to be done,,, frustrating as i was sitting next to the check in counter so plenty of staff went past and didnt notice,, So when my plates were cleared i said i have desert to come out,,, then i waited 20 min and still no desert,,, i asked where it was then saw them go to the kitchen counter and looked like no action was taken initially,, so they hastilly prepared I got it soon after,,, At the end of meal i mentioned this to a senior staff member,, he said yes since covid we have been understaffed,,, Well the staff seemed to be doing okay to me, But they could have been a whole lot better,, If your understaffed then the staff really need to be attentive and efficient,,,, So when you take full plates out look for empties to take back to the kitchen,, thats efficiency, also browsing the table to notice empty plates, and i didnt see that,, all up i could have been out of there 20-30 min sooner,, and others that they turned away could have had a table.Ill go back hoping its better next time.

We stayed here last year and dined within and loved the choice of meals, quality/taste and staff service, so although we stayed elsewhere we came back for dinner here again, we were not disappointed! Well recommended!

Nothing fancy just a normal room and clean but the amenities are missing. We got 4 towels and its only 2 of us but no face washer. Location is good. Its close to the main town. We had our morning walkto town and only 10 minutes. The main issue is the VERY RUDE people at the reception who doesn't know what customer service is!!!! My daughter and I didn't know we arrived earlier than my husband. So we asked if (we gave the name) has already checked in. That RUDE UGLY LOOKING CREATURE SAID NO!!! So we waited for him and he said so what are you still standing there for"!!!! SO RUDE!!!! I said I am one of the two booking today for 2 night. He only said "ahhh...." No apology what so ever. Then when we asked where is the room. He so rudely said "there turn left its upstairs" . My daughter SARCASTICALLY said "thank you for being so nice and helpful" because what he did is exactly the opposite! The woman who is also working there is just as RUDE as that RUDE UGLY LOOKING CREATURE at the reception when we arrived. She was rude over the phone and told me off when I onky had a mistake telling her the name it was booked under. People

This Bistro is one of the best in the country, with 5 star food at 3 star prices. When friends visit Bendigo, this is a risk free venue for a lunch or night out. Great central location too. There is something on the menu for everyone, and at great prices. And the generous serving will be cooked to perfection. Hadn't been there for a while, and friends visiting from NSW motivated me to visit again just recently. Reminded me what a little gem we have here in Bendigo.

My wife and I were told recommend we go there for lunch ,well it definitely don't disappoint , the greeting and service was first class the meal were great and the drinks were cold, yummo will definitely be back 5⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Food was great had pepper calamari small serving cooked to perfection....no chips and for salad just a few letters scatters ....we order chips as extra.... Grilled fish was nice....also the Thai beef was good... It was a great experience...

Lovely meal, great atmosphere, hospitable staff. Giving you 1 star for those horrible, ugly, uncomfortable little seats, stools, not sure what they are at the dining booths in the room on the hwy side at the far side of the bar. Please put some propper seating there

Always enjoy a meal here. Prices are reasonable and food is good. Their old seafood platter however was far better than the new. Still good though.

Had a fantastic lunch here today with family. Roast pork was to die for. Friendly owners great feeling in the whole bistro and buzzing. Will be back again soon.

We enjoyed a superb meal here at the National Hotel. Busy as but still got our meals in good time and serves were generous too.
