What a terrible experience. When I made my appointment I asked if they knew how to do the style I wanted. They said they could. I arrived and I checked again. They started cutting and it quickly became apparent that they did not know what they were doing. When challenged, the hairdresser gets the manager who then gets the tablet out trying to work out the style saying we can do it. They misled me when I rang when they told me they knew how to do the style I asked for. They lacked the skills / knowledge / attitude. If they did not know how to do the style I wanted, just say so. They could not give the haircut I asked for and what they did do was second if not third rate.

2 out of 5 starsI'm a little annoyed with how my daughter's hair turned out today.The family chipped in and bought her a voucher as she wanted a cut and her hair coloured a blue colour.She showed them the picture and explained her hair was previously coloured with a box colour.She was there for 4.5 hours and charged $257 and came out with a cut and colour that I could have done from a box.Don't get me wrong they're lovely girls but having to pay this much money for something that wasn't done properly isn't fair, I don't think. She should have only been charged for the cut.The colour wasn't what she wanted at all, not even close.

Pricing has gone too far. 20 minute hair cuts starting at $100?Been a long time and loyal customer to Mel's Cutting room for many many years as the service was always fantastic and I always felt like it was open and accessible to anyone in the community and was relatively affordable for most; but that has unfortunately changed. I understand the cost of business has gone up in recent times, and the prices often reflect that but as consumers our cost of living has gone up insanely as well. I feel like hair cuts should be an affordable service as it is a necessity. Charging a base of $100 for hair cuts then adding on top the price depending on who does the hair cut is just way too much. It is way too unreasonable.There are price listings for trims, not restyles that are cheaper but even though I only had my ends and fringe cleaned up/trimmed I was always charged the most expensive restyle. It is so unclear to me what counts for each charge.I hope Mel's can reflect and recognize hair cuts should not be a luxury service; as it feels isolating as a long time customer who is on a disability pension (which is fortunate enough to still be able to work full time)It honestly feels like Mel's is now only offering luxury services at luxury prices; which is extremely isolating in a smaller community and is moving towards no longer being accessible for lower to middle income households. I called around other hairdressers in the area and have been going to a different hair salon which gives me the same quality for a fraction of the price.. $60-$65 for a hair cut.

My 5 year old daughter had a haircut today. Our hairdresser engaged with her the entire time and also gave her some braides for her party. It was lovely to watch. Thank you for making my little girl's day special.

I tried a few different hair-dressers in Trarlagon before I found Mel's. Now I have been a regular for years. Mel, Eliza and the crew are always super nice and cheery and up for a chat. They do a great job with my hair, but I think the social experience is my favourite part!

Fabulous customer service, my daughter was very happy with her hair and make-up for her presentation ball.

Mel and Abbi did my hair and make-up for my wedding. They were so professional and lovely, an awesome experience!

I can't rate Mel's highly enough. I'm a 60 year old male and went there yesterday for a haircut and to have my ears waxed. The service was great and I was very happy with the cut and the waxing. Very reasonable pricing too. Thanks Mel and Hayley :)
