I was here for about 6 weeks after a car accident. All the staff are great and treated me and my family with a lot of respect. I don't recommend any one to get brain injury (cause I hate it) but understand it will be out of one's hand, so this will be a really good place to end up. Everyone was wonderful here

I was a patient in Caulfield rehab about 20 years ago, I was down the lower end for a prosthetic leg the nurses male &female were excellent, food was average but acceptable, car parking was great with a large amount of disabled parking, Now 20 yrs later there is NO disabled parking all prosthetic patients have to park in main parking area which has drop down bars preventing you from leaving I have not parked there as I get a tag to put onto my windshield and I park in the prosthetic area, I guess that they now charge you for parking .

My wife spent two months at Rehab, AC1 room No2, the care and help that she was receiving was the best she can get.All staff, nurses, Doctors, OT, social workers were always helpful. If I could give them 10 stars instead of 5 I would. Thank you for everything you have done for me and my wife

The only reason this place was ok was it's allied staff and some of the nurses and one NUM She had Red hair as Have l but that's all theshared publicly accessible things we have ,we both have strong beliefs in treating everyone as equals. The accepted culture of this place is that it is ok for staff to stand and yell.... because they are deaf you know...have you opened your bowels,? and they don't speak English so then we get poo poo have you done pooh-pooh? To which the 3lderly Lady smiles. They go on there way job done.G rant social worker excellent kept me from leaving, but in a place that is so run down it would be hard to do your best.l will never go back

My daughter who was only 36 at the time was admitted to the rehab section of the Alfred in 2019 after a stroke.I haven’t had the energy to express my disgust at how anyone could think this place is acceptable for young or old until now. I hope it has been pulled down but I doubt it!!It was built during the war and renovated a few times over the decades, however when Emma was there it was unclean with mould in the bathrooms and no way of getting wheelchairs in safely. Many old people didn’t go to the toilet, bathe or get dressed regularly. The ward smelt of poo and the windows were not allowed to be opened due to nearby building works. She was young but there with drunks, drug addicts as well as lovely old people who were simarlarly distressed. Men and women were in the same wards. I cleaned soiled bandages off the bathroom floor several times. Emma had me to advocate but others were not in the same situation and we were at the mercy of those in charge who tried their best. Some patients, had lovely family and partners bringing in food but there was distress caused by the surroundings.Emma received some great rehab in a modern section of the hospital and there were caring nurses, doctors, physios, and OTs, however they too suffered and couldn’t do anything about this abomination that never seemed to receive funding for renovation or replacement.I hope it’s gone!!!!!! It was disgusting and totally unacceptable in today’s society.
