Amazing historic stay in a stunning location with great views over the River. Great hosts in Rob and Kate and the Courthouse has been lovingly restored with the old cells now bathrooms. The Settlers Arms is a must visit for dinner and drinks and only a 5 minute walk. Thanks for a great stay. We will be back soon!

An ideal family home for our getaway, super close to Sydney yet far enough to get a nice tranquil getaway! Character filled home, with pool and ideal for a mixed group. Thanks for having us!

What a fabulous weekend, not far from Sydney to drive and such a special place. The courthouse fits a couple of families - great facilities to cook up a BBQ. The pool is amazing and refreshing - couldn't get the kids out of it! The village and surrounding area is great for bush walks, tennis and fun on the river beach. There's even a rope swing not far out of the village. Magical getaway to suit all the family (including our dog!) - we can't wait for our next visit. Thank Rob & Kate and family

• A lovely old sandstone property located on the escarpment above the McDonald River. A wonderful location to visit, explore and enjoy. However, the property has been very badly neglected and needs lots of love and care to bring it back to it's original state. The grounds have been poorly maintained and are actually unsafe. Air B and B should be made aware of this. There is no fencing to protect guests from tumbling down the escarpment - it's quite dangerous! The gardens and paths are overgrown with weeds - there has been little effort in maintaining the lawns - just mowing and no attempt to cut the edges. The external furnishings are delipated and smelly. There is a wifi modem, yet it is unavailable to guests. The TV does not work! Batteries are missing from the controls. The BBQ is filthy and not recommended for use. The pool surrounds are full of weeds and who knows if the pool water is correctly treated. Spend some dollars to bring the property up to a level to justify the tariff. Also unsafe floorboards throughout. No internet or mobile coverage! Archaic! Definitely not recommended!

Amazing location and great accommodation. Incredible views down to the river, where families can picnic on the freshwater sands and have a relaxing swim. Such an incredible getaway - I wish we could have spent longer there! The hosts are super easygoing and made our stay a breeze and even more relaxing than we expected!

Wow! What a place, the views are incredible. Home away from home. Love the pool, love the bathrooms in the jail cells, love the tennis courts just a short walk away, loads of great walks for the kids and the dogs. Great place to hang out with friends. We will totally be back!

An amazing sanctuary away from the mayhem of the big city. Hard to believe it’s so close to the city. Loved our weekend away exploring St Albans and the surrounding countryside, walking tracks, swimming areas ... and the pub. Rob and Kate - and Dave the goat - were amazing hosts. Back again one day soon hopefully.

St Albans is a beautiful little village - the old pub is amazing and the views and walks are stunning. St Albans Homestead has the potential to be a great holiday accommodation - however we were really disappointed with our experience overall. Whilst the bedrooms and views are lovely, the kitchen had clearly not been deep cleaned for a very long time. The cupboards were full of personal junk of the owner and even old /off condiments. There was nowhere to put groceries and lacked lots of basics like chopping boards/serving bowls/baking trays. The bbq was filthy. Given it’s in the middle of nowhere and home catering is key, this was all really disappointing. Also, the verandah furniture had been switched for other stuff which was dirty and ripped. When I spoke to Kate to communicate my disappointment (after 2 hours of cleaning and reorganising to make the stay work) she was unbelievably hostile - saying my communication was ruining her holiday (no concern about ours) and told me we should get out immediately (this was 7pm after arriving at 2pm. She had no concern for the fact we couldn’t drive given we’d had a drink or that it was a 3 hour drive home and dark, and we had elderly parents with us). She has since emailed to acknowledge that my feedback was valid and they’re working on changes but I’ve never experienced anything so unprofessional when renting a holiday home.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Homestead! The location and views are incredible, so peaceful. We enjoyed immersing ourselves in the local history and how significant the Homestead and Courthouse are to that. Rob & Kate were wonderful hosts, they went above and beyond and made the whole family feel very welcome. Will definitely be back.

We stayed at the homestead with friends over the new years. What an amazing place to get away from it all! The accommodation was amazing and the extra space and ensuites to all rooms was an added bonus. The swimming pool was quite large and the kids certainly enjoyed it. The hosts are amazing too. I forgot some valuables while checking out and Kate sent them via express post!! Will definitely book again.
