Castlemaine Historical Society
Very rude and frustrating process trying to communicate with a member of management. Treating everyone under 40 like they’re a dumb child is going to turn people away from helping/donating to the organisation, as I was trying to do, except that person wouldn’t let me speak. I guess you don’t need donations and free resources? Everyone else I encountered in passing did seem like fantastic people, it’s a real shame.

I went on Tuesday, which is their Open To Public day. The volunteers there are very helpful and have seemingly endless resources to search. The gentleman who helped me even translated the gold permit map to Google Earth so I could see the area my ancestors mined.
