Great decor for aquariums and pretty decent bird stock from what I can tell but what really drowns the place in mud is the treatment issue of fish and and other aquatic critters for example I went there a while ago and found they had axolotls in stock which I was glad to see a place in Bendigo that sells them I’ve had them in the past 4 years and learnt to love ‘‘em so to my shock coming in to see at least 20 stuffed in one tank and another tank with atleast eight neither tank could’ve been larger than 80 litres it was just not right to see something like it for anyone who isn’t sure why this would be an issue search up how many axolotls can I keep within a 100 litre tank or just show up and see for yourselves the state their feet were in (or the lack of feet at that) or how large they should be compared to how large they are I’m reluctantly still shopping at the store but I have to say birds r us if you can’t treat the fish the same way as you do the birds then you either need to step it up ethically or just look at the creatures with some common decency and take a step back from the large scale selling of aquatic animals

Plenty of stock.Felt sorry for a lot of the birds.I wanted to take them all home.Outdated fixtures & pricey.

Friendly staff. Prices on feed aren’t bargains. Cheaper to visit a farm stockist for chicken feed. Changing variety of birds but haven’t been there to see any ill-treated animals. Being open 7 days a week, convenient to sometimes visit to find things not available at competing suppliers or when other suppliers aren’t open on Sunday’s or public holidays.

Quaint little place. Stocks feed for most pets . Has array of fish n turtles and birds.

Came by to look for a specific perch (first time being here) and was really appalled by the animal care. I study wildlife conservation and work with exotic animals on a daily basis, and this isn’t how you take care of birds.The cages were extremely small for the parrots and other birds. Some were just crammed with too many birds and the sizes were extremely inappropriate in general for that type of parrot/bird.Majority only dowel perches were used, which is a leading potential for foot problems like bumblefoot, sores, and arthritis.I noticed some of the parrots had barbed feathers, which is a direct indicator of stress as well.The birds also had no toys or enrichment, unclean cages, and an extremely poor diet of mostly seed (which is too fatty and oily and causes many health problems.)This is not a great example of good bird care practices and it was extremely uncomfortable for me to witness.Please do not purchase birds from here. They will simply only be replaced with another bird under the same conditions.In addition, the fish tanks were not kept well at all. Fish were too overstocked and the tanks weren't kept clean unfortunately.
