I operate my Hire Car buisness leasing a vehicle which has a legitimate NSW HIRE CAR NUMBER PLATE . Ninety percent of my clients live on the Northern Beaches of Sydney and rely on my services and the use of the Bus Lanes to get to their destination efficiently and relaxed without the added stress of having to battle it out in Sydney's sometimes Chaotic traffic. Without the use of the Bus Lanes my business is worthless. Does the NSW Liberal Government realise that most people who use Hire Cars are high profile business men and women?

I am new to the industry and very frustrated at the void left by the proposed discontinuation of HC plates, so I commend the goals of the NSWHCA. I would also like my voice to be heard regarding those left to one side with no way into the industry proper. No HC plate = no access to @90 percent of corporate work due to not being able to access bus lanes.

Great organisation that is working with the Hire Car industry to get best possible outcomes for their members and ultimately the public. With that said, the public needs a choice of transportation options and one of those options is to use a premium service Hire Car. In order for hire cars to remain successful, we will need to continue using HC plates beyond 2020 which is what the HCA is working towards.

As a new operator in the industry, I can't see any sense in the government removing HC plates. The HCA are doing a fantastic job working tirelessly to prevent the removal of HC plates, not only to support the multiple small business owners whose livelihoods are threatened, but also to prevent the customers of Hire Car businesses from being blindsided by changes that they have not been adequately consulted about.

NSW Hire Car Association1/204 Clarence St, Sydney NSW 2000Non-Profit OrganizationGreg Sullivan119 points5 hours agoAs a member of the Association, I am thankful for the work they are doing representing drivers, and ultimately, the customers. The customers I have spoken to about the proposal of loss of the HC plates are very disappointed, and bewildered given that it appears that taxis will maintain their access to the bus & transit lanes. A Hire Car is supposed to be superior to a taxi in every way - by removing the HC plates, this will put the customers in a rather peculiar position of having to decide between a more professional and luxurious service but slower trip, or a lesser grade of service and car, but a faster trip. HC plates are as old as the taxi industry. The sensible thing and the logical decision is to maintain the Hire Car plate system.Like

Having been in the Industry for over 32years and in the chairman’s position at MTA for many years and on many review committees etc it is with absolute disgust that I walked away from any further meetings with the NSW Government Transport Hire Car review committee there was never adequate consultation and an absolute liturgy of lies was put forward to us all and at many meetings together with Ritta, Simon and team I can assure you that we all vigorously and doggedly tried to protect our Industry and not have us forced into the same category as ride share companies like Uber etc. we have always kept an absolute separation from all other sectors including Taxis. We all need to support the HCA for a forceful demand for compensation for the loss of our Hire Car businesses where is the business that I personally work to grow and develop for over 32 years well I can answer that in one word !!! GONE when we have a Minister like Constance that personally said to me that they could not stop Uber and dropped all charges against them because they would lose their court cases and consequently they destroyed our businesses to bring them into compliance so the question should be asked, why were we forced to pay all these fees for plates for all these years also why have they discriminated against us by trying to kick us out of all the bus lanes immediately when they were still allowing Taxis to use them.In closing get behind Ritta, Simon and the NSW HCA they do have your best interests at heart and do work tirelessly to achieve an acceptable outcome for the industry.

The hire car industry was a very regulated and scrutinised industry, subjected to compliance and audits. The NSW government in their wisdom decided to trash it and bring a lot more complicated regulation. They want us to be classified as Ridesharing. Please make them understand that we are not Ridesharing. We have regular clients who make their reservations in advance. They need to be on time to meetings or catch a flight. We are not taxis or Point 2 Point, and we don’t wish to be categorised as such. Our industry is the most professional, efficient, reliable, and safe as we all have many years of experience. We also invested a lot of money in purchasing late model vehicles to suit the need of our high-profile clients who many of them work and deal directly with government departments.I always believed that a liberal government is one to support the small business and try to see them flourish. We must be able to keep our identity as hire cars and be able use the buys & transit lanes. Beyond 2020.

As a member of the Association, I am very grateful for the work they are doing representing both drivers, and ultimately, our customers. The customers I have spoken to about the loss of the HC plates are very disappointed, and confused, *especially* given that it appears that taxis will maintain their access to the bus & transit lanes. A Hire Car is supposed to be superior to a taxi in *every* way - by removing the HC plates, this will put the customers in a rather peculiar position of having to decide between a more professional and luxurious service but slower trip, or a lesser grade of service and car, but a faster trip. HC plates are also very useful for identification purposes though. Please do the sensible thing and maintain the Hire Car plate system.

A small under-funded Association that represents a small niche within the personal transport industry. Out-gunned by the Lobbyists and influence that UBER and the Taxi Industry throw at Govt Policy makers, the HCA has forged strong connections with senior Govt members. A careful, convincing approach is what our Industry needs to represent us in the years to come, the HCA is providing this.
