Hiring the right builder to achieve the work that a customer requires can be a daunting task. Particularly for a person like myself who does not have any building skills at all, therefore totally dependent upon and trusting the builder to do a quality job.I had a fixed budget for certain rectification work required by the local council such as re-stumping and balustrades. It also needed to cover the installation of Matrix Lattice to give the house greater presentational appeal.I thought the best way to start was NOT to ‘coldly’ look up builders online, but to place myself in a situation where I could meet builders or get a recommendation from someone who was more likely to have trade connections.I started asking builders in the aisles of Timber and Hardware stores with eventually finding myself buying some paint at a Dulux Trade Centre. I’m very happy to say it was there that the store attendant after hearing I was looking for a builder, gave me a business card with the words BUILD ONE. She highly recommended them emphasising the fact that they were reliable and would do a good job.At this stage I already had 2 builders lined up to look at the job and give quotes, but I have to say they fell by the wayside due to one only giving a verbal quote and not hearing from him again and the other turning up to cost the job and amidst the promising never delivered.I’m pleased to say, from first talking on the phone to Chris Wynne from Build One, he proved reliable, exactly as the lady at Dulux had said. During the process Chris followed up emails and texts, turned up on site in order to quote and in reasonable time presented a detailed costing, itemising the materials and the labour time involved.From this experience I felt I had made the right choice and from day one of Build One and in the days to follow they turned up on time. I was also pleased in this ‘Covid’ time to help play a part to keep skilled trades people and apprentices in work.Throughout the job I noted various aspects that backed up my choice of Build One - Design and Construction.1. They were reliable and punctual.2. Kept me updated with the schedule and delivery of supplies by text, phone or email all the way along.3. Checked and clarified with me first before they went ahead with any key stages of the build.4. Upon facing any challenges they always made sure I was happy with the way they were going to tackle the problem.5. The attention to detail, showing pride and dedication to their work which was consistently displayed on the job.6. Last but not least which I think is very important is the ability of Chris Wynne of Build One to communicate in a friendly and personable manner.Now that I can stand back and proudly look at the finished result, I can honestly say Build One has not only professionally completed the task at hand, but were a pleasure to work with every step of the way!
