Went to Cessnock Hair Studio this morning for a cut, treatment, straighten and blow dry.Brianna did a fantastic job and was great to chat to and very friendly.Highly recommended.

I had the pleasure of having your senior stylist Amy do my hair not only was she very pleasant but she was able to speak to me on the pros and cons of the style I was after and if I would be able to maintain it myself at home such a lovely experience!!

I came in for a quote for a standard half head and your senior, amy, was more than accomodating and put me at ease with her knowledge and kindness and would’ve felt confident in her work. Unfortunately I didn’t book in as I heard someone snoring from out the back room! While amy had taken time out of her haircut to help me with my enquiry and was assured I could make an appointment whenever I would like by amyI later went to book an appointment over the phone when I was answered by someone called Bri or bree. I have never been spoken to so rudely in my life! And claimed she was the manager! I later realised that this was who was sleeping out in the back room snoring as I later heard from friends that only two girls worked there. As a hairdresser of 20 years I am appalled at the fact that a hairdresser is sleeping on the job while the other was so pleased to help me with my enquiries. To the owner. Please address this issue with your “manager”. I have salon management experience and can guarantee you, that is not how to keep customers coming back.

I attended this salon on Friday, had half a head of foils. I didn’t get it blow dried so I walked out with wet hair, not seeing the results of the foils. Later that afternoon, when my hair had completely dried, I could see that my hair, where I had the regrowth foils, is orange, it is not the colour i wanted, nor is it the colour that is the same as the length of my hair (light blonde). It appears it hasn’t been lifted enough for the toner to do it’s job and give me the nice blonde I requested (and same colour as the length of my hair). The foils also look patchy, I’ve never had this happen before? That’s not the worst part, Friday night while brushing my hair, my scalp felt very tender, when I ran my fingers over my scalp, i could feel blisters, which today feel scabby. I’m really disappointed and can honestly say, In all the years I’ve been colouring my hair (almost 30 years) I’ve never had my scalp burnt from chemicals.I contacted the salon via the online contact to let them know and offered to provide photos so they could see why I was so dissatisfied & I asked for a 50% refund. The salon owner (owned by hairdressers mother) emailed me to say it was the fault of my previous hairdresser and I should go back to them! She also tried to blame some banding I have half way through the length of my long hair! At no time did she ask to see photos and never acknowledged my scalp being burnt! I reiterated that I was purely talking about the poor job done on my regrowth and had never expected for the banding to be corrected at that visit.I was told that because her daughter had done a good job, there would be no refund issued.The hairdresser, Brianna is actually quite lovely and it’s a shame her mother is treating customers like this. I’m positive if the level of customer service provided by her mother continues, as well as the poor results in the salon, this business will not last. I really hope Brianna looks at the photos and is able to see where she went wrong and improves her skill, with experience, she will be a great hairdresser!I don’t recommend this salon & will never return. I’ll also be sure to let everyone that asks, to steer clear of this salon. I honestly would rate 0 stars if it was an option.Long wait times for quality hairdressers in Cessnock, there’s a reason it’s worth the wait!*edit - this salon is no longer owned and operated by Ellen. I stand by this review, regardless of the owners reply to me. I am in no way speaking about the banding in my hair and only about the poor job done on my regrowth. The photos speak for themselves. This owner has been extremely rude and disrespectful to me. 100% do not go to this salon!The last photo added is of the length of my hair, which shows the colour and the banding the owner keeps banging on about, which one can see, has nothing to do with my regrowth.

Friendly staff, good price.

I have not yet experienced the salon but what I can say is that they have been extremely helpful. Amy was more than happy to accommodate a large wedding party where others in town could not. I have tried to do local for our wedding and have to say most are grateful but some I would question with their big Sydney prices and and attitude good work Amy
