Such a beautiful forest, I went alone, it is safe. Need DSLR for a better photo.

Is this my first one star review? I think it might be.Only found out about access conditions and cost this afternoon, so booked to go in at 9pm. The site days the pass would be emailed to me and I'd need to show it at the gate - no one was at the gate, no sign of people, and that was good because the pass never got emailed (I had the web page receipt all loaded all just in case). The site said there were car park areas, and there would be signed walks from those areas - I found the parking areas, but there were no walks that I could find. Not that I looked more than what I could pick up with the car headlights, as, with no other vehicles around, single person driving through isolated Australian forestry with no mobile reception" is how half Australian horror movies start. Cool little walking trails. Wish we had of been here to see the mushrooms in better conditions for them! Either way, it was fun.

We went for the guided tour on 4/6/21 as we were not familiar with the area and thought we better paid for 30 bucks per person for a memorable experience and the long drive from Adelaide. It turned out that the the money was so well spent. It is quite dark in the forest and u would have come to the forest during the daylight to figure out where fresh mushrooms at their prime time are in spite of the signposts. The extremely young and old mushrooms are not the best for viewing purposes. The tour guide clearly had done good homeworks(e.g.: checking mushrooms) and also took us to a mushroom valley (only for the tour). We saw never-ending glowing mushroom clusters around us after switching off the lights, and the magical moment happened when we looked up the forest and saw the glimmering galaxy (centre of Milky Way) right above us.It was totally worth the drive and the low temperature at night in the limestone coast.I didn’t have special cameras to take the glowing ghost mushrooms at dark. The glow u actually saw by ur bare eyes were more bluish to bluish green instead of green in the professional photos. So, go check them out on your own.

Easy to find but I found the map didn't show where the walks were. I would drive in and keep an eye out for where the walks are.Otherwise, you'll be walking in the dark trying to find non-existent walks like we did.According to the map, there were 4 walks, but we only found 2. And one of them disappeared after a couple of trail markers. It's a pretty amazing experience nonetheless. Being out in the quiet forest with the beautiful stars above.

Best enjoyed in the company of friends. Also probably safer and less scary than going alone :')Best to arrive before dark in order to survey the area and for easy parking.Paths are marked quite clearly but do be aware of the uneven ground and tree stump and branch tripping hazards! Best to have a look up ahead when walking as signs marking the paths are a bit far apart.GPS and cell service available in the forest (for me at least).Would recommend waterproof shoes.Once dark, mushrooms and easy to find as the glow with a soft white light in the pitch blackness. If you have a camera (dslr or phone) with adjustable shutter speed, you can take some excellent photos.

Lucky with weather, followed clearly marked paths which had been layed out to give the best views. Need more than standard phone camera to see flourescent display. Vehicle exit back to main road not clearly marked.

There were only 3 mushroom patches but they certainly did not glow in the dark. There were no guides there to show people around. It was in a forest, pitch black and it was very difficult to find our way around. It was hugely disappointing. No one knew where to look for mushrooms.
