Avis Car & Truck Rental Launceston Airport

I had the pleasure of dealing with Bonnie for my hire car on both occasions while on Holidays in Tasmania, excellent customer service and i could not speak more highly of Bonnie - She is a credit to AVIS.

Rental car was available on time and in good condition. However, after returning the vehicle my credit card was incorrectly charged an additional $112 for a re-fuelling fee despite being returned with full tanks! The subsequent customer service to have this fee refunded has been terrible. Despite several phone calls and emails I am yet to recover the money. I will not use Avis again after this experience.

The staff were friendly but were a bit overwhelmed with the number of people wanting to hire cars. We had pre-booked but, unfortunately, had to wait in the same line as walk ins. That is my only complaint - it took 40 minutes to get to the front of the queue. No complaints about the car.

Absolutely disgraceful. They try and rip you off at every turn. Charged my husband for two days when it was only one. Made him book online and use the key drop box which he did and they took advantage. Now they want proof he dropped the car off after one day and are checking cameras. Never again. I’d prefer to use no stars.

Cancelled my corporate booking as they said it did not qualify. Then proceed to charge full rack rate at almost double the price of the initial booking that the company had arranged for us. Disgraceful customer service to try and fix this issue even though it meets every one of their rental terms and conditions. Lack of ownership of their mistake and we will not be using Avis in Launceston or recommending them to anyone moving forward.

Some errors on Qantas' behalf (not putting my phone number on an Avis booking I made through the Qantas booking process) resulted in Avis being unable to contact me when my flight was heavily delayed- when I finally got there, the counter had closed.Not really Avis' fault, they were super cooperative, I went out the next morning to pick up the car, they honoured the original rate, didn't charge me for the day I couldn't use the vehicle and removed the cost for the child seat as a show of good faith.The best possible outcome in the situation to be honest- staff helpful and friendly, I would book with these guys again (directly though, limit Qantas lack of organisation to screwing up my flights only!)

A third party website cancelled my booking with a competitor without notice. The super helpful lady at the AVIS desk sorted out a car within minutes at almost the same price as the original booking. She saved me from certain disaster in terms of being able to attend a wedding on time, what a legend, can't ask for better than that!

In Tas for family reasons, the professionalism and ease with working with the staff here was faultless. Adele explained everthing should we need to extend our car hire and even wrote the direct mobile number for the on duty staff and the detials i needed to quote, I think Alex fielded our call when we had to extend and she had me off the phone with an amended booking and at ease within 2 minutes.

Does anyone else think these rental insurance plans are a scam? Avis says in the event if a crash you’re liable for about $5000, but really, their own insurance excess wouldn’t be anywhere near thatmuch - they’re effectively charging you twice. They force you to pay through the nose for any meaningful protection. Verging on a scam. Next time I’ll struck to the aggregators, I’ve had it with Avis

Worst service ever. Asked if I could pickup my car early because my flight was changed to an earlier time. I said very clearly I’ll only grab the car now if no extra fees were charged on top of my prepaid amount. He reassured me multiple times there would be no other fees. Then after my trip I got charged another whole fee. Avis has said nothing to be done because I signed the agreement. Warning to everyone don’t take their word for anything.
