I swear their hold music is designed to break you.My application for change of name has expired in the time I have been waiting for this incompetent department to get back to me. I am told the application fee can be refunded but there is absolutely no way to contact them.I have been waiting 6 months for an application that is meant to take 12 weeks to process.Twice now I have waited on hold for over two hours only to be hung up on before getting through. Countless emails have gone unanswered. You’ve essentially taken my money, provided nothing and ghosted me.If this wasn’t a government department it would be shut down for scamming people.I can’t believe you people fail to understand how sensitive these matters are.I am completely at a loss and feel I am out of options. How is this allowed to continue.

The reviews are all 100% true.The wait time is excruciating as it’s been almost 3 hours now and I’m still 8th in the queue. We paid to register our relationship and I can’t even do my part on it as it says “you are not authorized to access this page” so it doesn’t even make sense. They don’t get back to you via email and the phone system doesn’t seem to work. This is a legit $235 scam it’s unbelievable. They take your money and don’t provide the service.

I am struggling to fathom just how bad my experience has been with your department, extremely delayed follow up, misinformation, and errors on your website resulting in having to fill out entire applications again.For a government body to be so incompetent, this is absolutely disgraceful and completely unacceptable.

Would Premier Andrews and Ministers like to wait 3 hours on the phone only to be told that they are very busy!No wonder given the call centre hours are 8am to 2pm. And the customer service centre is Closed.But the rest of us who have lost a loved one have to continue working 7.6hours or more a day so we can pay the bills and the mortgage.

BDM are dreadful. Lousy CS. No follow up to emails. You can't ring them - crazy hours and the queues so long - who has hours to sit and wait? I did though. And they MISLED me. Said if I could provide contemporaneous proof" they would update Mum's birth certificate. I finally found that. They rejected it. Wont accept a stat dec. Just appalling."

For a place that holds such significant documents required to do anything, the service is next to nothing. 3 hour wait time for phone calls and emails don’t get replied to.

I have been trying to contact this office for months every time I ring them it says it is a 3 hour wait so I email and it takes them 2 weeks before they reply and by then your question is nil and void. I waited on the phone today for 2 1/2 hours and it says if you want a call back press the star key which I did and of course no call back. Typical of a government run institution that’s for sure. Not impressed I am trying to do this from interstate so I can’t just pop down there and call in to find out what’s happening with my application. What other options do I have ?

We went to the office in the city - it was wrapped in black plastic saying it was closed. Apparently it has been like this since 2020 and every day people come to the office to sort out their issues but the website still directs people to the office. The other people who were also there were lamenting a loss of a day's wages to get into the city to sort out a mistake on their daughter's birth certificate.I tried to sort out my marriage certificate on line but because my birth certificate and drivers licence have different names I could not do this through services victoria. So yesterday I spent about 4 or 5 hours trying to resolve this issue and now I have called the number provided at 8am sharp ... hoping to get in early and I have been told I have a 3 hour wait time. It seems the office is understaffed. Considering it is so important to have a verified identity I would have hoped the service would be concidered important enough to be staffed so it can opperate effictively. I am sure those who work there must deal with many frustrated people. Sorry I have become one of them.

Absolutely horrific service - paid for certificate, never got the email to upload documents - this should be an automated service in this day and age. Sent emails, unable to wait 3hrs due to work commitments, no return phone call, no response from emails. I think a Consumer watchdog needs to be involved. Absolutely appalling. At this rate and reading all other reviews, I will need my own death certificate instead of my birth certificate!!!

Called and opted to be called back as it was 1hour40minute estimated call back ...Guess what.... its been over 4 hours and no call back..Rang the same number and call center is only open 8-2pm!!!I want a Government job that works 6 hours a day... jees
