What a welcome respite from the pubs and fine dining with food that is actually interesting and flavourful for vegans and vegetarians. It's nice to have veg and vegan food where you're not treated like an afterthought. Thanks for the yummy rosti!

Great food and a wonderful setting. I am both vegan and have a serious food allergy, and I felt totally safe eating here. The waitstaff was great as well — JC was super helpful!

I give 4.8 ⭐️ the only thing were the gnocchi were a bit too soft to my liking, it might be my own taste, but the sauce was a delight, the scallops are also to die for, very tasty, both of the mains were really good, the lamb jus and the silverbeet were great combo, fish was cooked perfectly so were the vegies with a really tasty sauce.Desserts were really tasty as well, could not decide which one was better between the ‘cheesecake’ and the lemon curd, a place to go when you in the Hunter valley.

A balanced menu provided share plates which suited all four women. A pleasant semillón and a silky Shiraz completed a lovely meal sitting in the sun out of the wind. Great lunch cheerfully served. Thank you.

Quick, Sunday $$$$ breakfast in a nice location. Place was not busy at 9:30am with just four customers. Eggs, coffee and tap water for two people will cost you $70. If you want to order some juice with your breakfast, then you need a $100. Service was good, food was good, standard, but not extraordinary. Eggs were poached just right. Smoked trout was very nice and worth the extra $6. I think lunch/dinner options look better in comparison to their breakfast menu.Eggs Benedict $23 + trout $6Smashed Avo on toast $23 + poached eggs $62 x coffee $10Juice is $7 per glass as per restaurant commentary

Last minute choice to attend this venue. I must say I was extremely happy with everything about this place. Atmosphere was great, coffee good (best I have had in Hunter region), food excellent I sampled most of the breakfast menu and wasn't disappointed with anything. Highly recommend portobello mushroom dish and the bowl. I am looking forward to going back for lunch on another trip.

This has to be my favourite restaurant at the Hunter! We came on a quiet night and did a 3 course with wine pairing. All dishes and all wines were simply amazing! The two ladies who served us were also so lovely and really contributed to our great experience as they explained how the restaurant was established and the art on the walls.Definitely looking forward to paying them another visit and to try more of their food!

We celebrated my daughter’s 18th birthday at Kawul. Everything was perfect. The service was impeccable from booking until the end.The food was delicious and we loved the Australian Native flavours. We were so impressed. The buildings and scenery were lovely and our table on the verandah allowed us to enjoy it.I will definitely be back.Thank you staff of Kawul.
