Gorgeous views with lots of walks close by. The Capertee cabin was so cute - compact but well designed. Thanks Thomas for being a caring and generous host!

There’s a dirt road that passes the campground - if you don’t want to eat dust all day best camp at the ‘little capertee’ campground about 500m past the hotel campground. Little capertee is free, quieter and no dust!!! We have camped at little capertee for over 30 yrs but booked the hotel campground because we had an elderly dog, the dust was disgusting - people just don’t care, once they get in their car they race in and out and suffocate all the campers.The dust saw us pack up and leave a day early. We’ll stick with ‘little Capertee’ campground next time.

A true hidden gem in a stunning location and surrounded by history. We stopped in for a plunger coffee on the veranda in the morning sunshine. The hotel building is filled with character and its museum is very informative. The front bar area could do with a bit of a tidy and feather duster action, but it was a great experience nonetheless.

Hidden Gem,Stayed for one night camping,$25 per car and free use of bathrooms and running water for hotel.Your own fires are allowed and hotel sells small selection of good.Thomas is very friendly and sells fire wood by the wheelbarrow.Also you can book an authentic wood fired Pizza Oven (make sure you book in advanced.The campground was beautiful, spacious and close to the river.

Newnes Hotel
A pub with no beer, but they do have a very interesting museum of the old shale oil industry from the 1900's. The dog on the verandah welcomes every visitor with a wagging tail. You can get an ice cream to eat on the verandah & watch the local bird life. There are the ruins of the old butchers shop across the road. They also have cabins to book if camping is not your thing.

Fabulous camping find! Thomas is a great host and the facilities (hot water, drinking water, flush toilets, showers, firewood) make camping a breeze. Pitches are really nicely grassed.Only downside is the traffic on the road through the site- there is a lot on a holiday weekend, and unfortunately not everyone respects the 10 kph speed limit - resulting in a lot of dust.

Newnes Hotel
Recently was camping in the area so decided to stop in and visit the Newnes Hotel.During our visit we picked up some firewood that they were selling. Managed to get a big wheelbarrow load for $30. Note that you are not allowed to use a chainsaw around the Newnes National Park area. Attached are photos showing the hotel.

Camped at the Newnes hotel camping grounds. Fabulous location. Clean level sites, generous size and clean facilities for a small fee. Spectacular view.
