Stuffed up replacing a part in son's car now refusing to admit responsibility after having car given a 2nd opinion by a mobile mechanic as it's too unsafe to drive back to the garage

Took car to them for rwc. They noticed few bushes needed replacing, and couple other things. That's fair enough. The lack of communication from Jess or Rob was shocking. Jess would say I'll ring you back in 5 mins, never called. She stuffed around getting prices for parts, and couldn't even follow it up her end for price to do quote. Then when finally did quote for $1100 to 1200 for job, they had trouble with bushes and took over 5 hours to do so. (Previous owner had opposite bushes replaced 2 months ago, only took an hour) Charged $1700 plus rwc on topHe also had a lack of knowledge of the vehicle as he needed to pull entire K arm out for bushes as he stated, (previous owners mechanic did not need to, to complete the same job)When they did bushes it put steering wheel out of alignment. (No heads up or anything) when driving the car the traction control started kicking in and dropped car speed to 30km making it shudder and unsafe to drive. Called them about the issue. Rob refused to take any responsibility, for causing the issue. He had put steering wheel out, causing the steering column sensor and traction control to kick in. (Previous bushes replaced did not require wheel alignment for opposite bushes)Didn't look into coolant leak as also asked to, was not interested in any part of the job. Seemed very unenthusiastic and bothered to have work.Would not personally recommend using this mechanic

They had my car for 4 hrs, were meant to fix fan belt and do a service, when I got my car back I was told my brakes would be fine till next service, I took my car to another mechanic who said service wasn't done properly fan belt was loose and brake pads were worn will not be back to this mechanic especially when they claim they can do a service in an hour and a half.

went for RWC & had a suspension issue, they gave me a long list of bushes they said need to be replaced & picked on everything from the colour of the brake fluid to the position of the washer jets, even a scratch in one tinted window didn't go unnoticed. A scratch in the windscreen(which could be buffed out) they say needs a new one, Every 2 days a drip comes from the power steering rack, they say it needs a new one? And they said it needs new shockers too? Their solution? Pay my bill $180 for the Road worthy inspection, Pay a further $50 for a quote & another inspection, which they estimated would be well over $1500, Yes, Well Over $1500. This would leave me having to go through the RWC process again?.Brought it to another mechanic & it seems the shockers are fine & the ''main issue'' with the suspension was the sway bars which went completely unnoticed by Market Street Auto! Bushes are fine. After a windscreen buff, bit of stop leak for steering rack & a sway bar adjustment, I'm RWC Ready at only $150! There are only 2 sorts of mechanics in this world, Honest ones who look after their customers & dishonest ones who prey on their customers! My Advice; Stay Away From Marker Street

Only mechanic shop that I go to when I have an issue.Rob is always happy to help no matter how big or small the problem is and always calls before going ahead with anything outside what was quoted.Definitely the best person to go to ensure your family car is running 100%, never misses a thing on a RWC and ensures that you leave a happy customer.

Don't go in this place to fix your car. They take advantage of you and ask you to pay for a job they don't really do. If you need a work of one hour they charge you at least two on the invoice. Really expensive also with the stuff: they asked me 20$ for each spark plug (without labour) and I paid 18$ for four of those at the shop in the city. Scam! Be careful

Reading other feedback, it looks like I'm not the only one with taking a car to Rob and finding I have an unfair call on a windscreen. I booked for a RWC and he is lazy with his paperwork and didn't write me in. When I turned up and he was unsure why. I insisted it was done on the day It was booked. My mistake.. Hindsight I should have left and booked elsewhere, as I suggest anybody contemplating a RWC in futureMy car was picked for brake hoses which was correct. My car was also picked for a bad windscreen. That was incorrect.Rob seems to have an ignorance and inability to fully read and comprehend the RWC compliance and acceptables to the standard. He did drop me up the road at the bus stop and didn't complain that the windscreen was SO BADLY affected that he struggled to drive as the code states, yet this was his reason for failing the RWC. When he explained his poor reasoning, it was based on speculation and not actual fact. Please revert back to the full understanding and comprehension of the Vic Roads RWC compliance statementAdding to this his pricing for a RWC is currently $190. A bit above most others
