Visited on a rainy day and didn't get much of the walks in. Been a well established picnic area originally but still in reasonable condition. Dirt road in had huge potholes and needed to be graded. Walking tracks had vegetation recently cut back and good vision ensured.

There is a picnic area with bbq and 2 not long walking routs - Dawson river walk and Ms Kellys walking track, both are near 1.5 km long, that is good for kids.

Would have liked to do one of the walks in this reserve but the trail was just so unkept - trees and branches everywhere across the path. Would be good if National Parks cleared the debris every now and then.

Well marked walking tracks in reasonable condition, hiking boots still a good idea but joggers will do. Lovely shady bbq area.

Beautiful location, gives you an idea of what the town of taree would have looked like 200+ years ago before land clearing and development. Tracks are overgrown and washed out in certain locations definitely needs abit more maintenance and signs along the miss Kelly's walking track as I almost got lost.

Pleasant reserve with two walking tracks. The Mary Kelly walk takes 90 minutes. The Dawson creek walk takes an hour. Mainly flat to gentle undulating topography. Many big trees including red and pink bloodwoods, White mahogany, Ironbark's, grey gums and tallowwood. There is also a population of eucalyptus seeana, which is not a common species. If you look high in the canopy you may get lucky and see a koala. The Old Port Macquarie road is the only way in and the only way out. There are toilets, picnic tables and interpretative signs around the carpark area.

Warning: you may get lost.Don't go unless you just want to spend time at the picnic area and pontoon, or if you have a great sense of direction. With everything that has gone on recently, the paths have not been maintained. Lots of trees, branches and vines have fallen onto or over the path. Lantana and other plants have grown above and next to the path, making it difficult to stay on the path even when you find it.At some points it's like a goat track or feral pig run. Some of it must have been at some point, because even though I tried to stay on the path I ended up wayyy off course. So, my 1 hour walk turned into a 3 hour bush bash, guessing that I'm headed in the right direction based on my phone's location estimate and compass setting. Some of you may be better navigators than I am, or are the bush care heroes that walk with gardening tools to help keep paths free of overgrowth. But for others, learn from my experience.

Great walks although short ie 50 Min. Have koalas but saw none. Not effected by fires. Some nice waterholes for swimming.
