I purchased a pair of opal earrings as a Valentines day present for my wife from here and they were perfect. I can't believe how the colour changes with the light. These are solid Opals.The owner Darren was very friendly and helpful. I highly recommend taking a look if thinking of a gift or just visiting Tamborine Mountain.

This store is such a gem. We were with some friends who were visiting from Canada, and they were looking to buy something with opal as a gift, and we popped into Australian Outback Opals on our (amazing) day trip to Mt Tambo. Darren, the owner, greeted us and was just incredible the entire time. We ended up spending time in there, as he passionately showed us opals, and stones, and had a giggle with us. He just has so much time for you, and you can tell he just loves what he does. Excellent customer service, amazing selection, it’s just a great place! Thank you, Darren.

Such lovely helpful staff. Great variety of items to suit all styles and price ranges. Highly recommend a visit. They even sorted out all of the paperwork to sort out the tax at the airport. Great gelato shop next door for an icecream is an added bonus.

We happened across this shop by chance on a visit to the Hinterland. Having purchased two opal rings here, we decided to make the 90 minute round-trip journey again to get gifts for more friends. The owner and his family are so helpful and knowledgeable and such a pleasure to be around. They own some of the opal mines they get their stones from and cut them themselves, so their understanding of the whole process is impressive. Their recommendations on where to go and what to see in the area are also second-to-none. One of the best retail experiences I have ever had!

Beautiful place, came here while on holiday with my family. We all purchased a little something from this beautiful shop and we wear them every single day, so gorgeous. There is truely something for everyone. The people that work here are so amazing and knowledgeable about their opals. It was an absolutely wonderful experience would definitely recommend!

Cute little shop, has beautiful opals throughout! I brought a beautiful braclet and a bunch of key rings, some for me some for gifts! I definitely recommend stopping in here and checking it out! The staff are super friendly and helpful too.

Paid $450 for a pair of opal stud earrings that flaked apart at the edges when taking them in and out of my ears. They were kept away from water and never smashed or dropped with impact. Was denied an exchange or refund. Was offered 20 percent off to buy something else. As if I’d shop there again! These earrings are cheaply made and simply flake apart. The opal shell is super thin! Owner was looking for any excuse but I look after all my jewellery. What a tool! Poor product quality, poor service, be warned.

My partner and I visited the shop and were amazed with the opals and jewelry displayed. Very lovely genuine customer service. Friendly and helpful. We purchased a silver chain and I bought a silver solid opal ring. Very happy with my purchase and good price! Overall, stunning pieces !

Loved coming here with my wife and daughter. Darren the owner is a very friendly highly knowledgeable guy. Purchased a beautiful set of earrings and my wife a lovely pendent they will cherish for years to come.A must visit whilst in Mount Tamborine.
