Carnarvon Beach Canal Retreat

Absolutely needs to be demolished. Apartment was awful. Totally un suitable for 4 pensioners .Broken shower screen, nothing to place anything down on. Everything outdated and surfaces dirty. Would have felt cleaner in a tent. Owners dog did enourmous Pooh outside in the morning and wasn't picked up. We cancelled our booking for our return trip. Will be seriously trying for a refund.

We stayed in Captain's Quarter. Great view of Canarvon, mangroves and trial Oyster farm. The outside deck is covered, enormous with BBQ and table that would easily seat 8. The inside includes a large double ?king size bed with a view of Canarvon over the water, a bedroom with twin singles a shared bathroom and well equipped kitchen/dining/lounge. The latter is a huge space with island sink, dining table with 6 chairs, large leather lounge that four could lie on and LG TV. The kitchen has a full sized oven, double door fridge freezer, 4 hot plate stove, microwave, 4 slice toaster, metal kettle, dishwasher and Vittoria Picolo coffee maker. Pods were supplied. As most restaurants in Canarvon are closed due to cyclone Seroja, it was wonderful to have a full kitchen at our disposal. The bathroom laundry has a washing macine/dryer that was easy to use, large mirror behind the ample basin, good hot water, hair dryer and an effective shower. It has a skylight which was effective. The unit has a dedicated parking place. No major issues, the white counter top stains with red wine so we used the stainless draining board. There was some dust on one of the blinds and of course the outside table. We will be looking to book this again!

Far from what I thought a Retreat should be. Electrical cords running everywhere. Lucky only 2 of us drank wine as there were only 2 glasses and no 2 other pieces of crockery matched. Photos advertised were not what we got. The fridge was amazing but thats where the good news stopped!! The property needed a huge cleanup and renovation. Everything was so old and dated - would not recommend anyone to stay here :(

This is not 5 Star accommodation, what it is though is a fantastic location and friendly management. Fantastic fishing location. I caught a 6.5Kilo Estuary Cod 10 meters from my unit and a massive Mud Crab 30 meters away. Its around 7 ks away from the town. Amazing Sunsets and Sunrises. Great for kids. Beaches 5 minutes away walking. You can fish Ocean or Cannel without driving anywhere. Really good for the kids! Like anything up north prepare yourself for Mozzies and or Sandflies depending on season. I flew my kids down for $200 each via Rex Airlines so its pretty handy and cheap if you need that as an option like I did. One other thing that makes this the best place is there is a woollies here that makes Carnarvon really cheap to stay. Pricing is on par with Perth. Gascoyne Hotel Delivers just about anything here as well providing you buy food like Pizza :)

What was advertised online was far from what we got when we arrived, there was mould on the roof in the bedrooms, stains on the bedding, there was an animal running in the roof, the blinds didn’t close properly and we hung a towel to cover for privacy. The water from the canal in front of our room stunk and was polluted with beer bottles and rubbish. The owner was lovely but we will not be staying here again!!!

Unfortunately, we didn’t read reviews here but trusted photos and descriptions from the major hotel booking website. The room we’ve got wasn’t just basic, it was very very dated, rusty air conditioning, mould in the bathroom, blinds on the window are not in working condition, bad smell from the outside ect I would expect it all if it was in the different price range, but paying $170 for 2 people to arrive to this is beyond any understanding.

Right on the tip of Carnarvon retreat not far from the town good people if you like fishing walk outside with a cold beer sit on the steps and do some fishing its that close

Super happy with our weekend visit. Basic one bedroom unit, however it had everything we needed for a wonderful stay and comfy sleeps. Enjoyed the chilled out BBQ area, over looking the canal. Great for the price, fantastic location and really lovely crew of staff. We will be back for sure.
