Had no idea what to expect, rocky dirt track for the drive in, roughly about 7 mins drive down to the track, no toilets or water fill stations.Definitely do take note of the risks stated on the sign, I probably wouldn't attempt this track with young children as it is not rail guarded with open cliff face"

The walk was nice through the Bush and over a few running creeks but the end result was terrible. After the fires and then the floods the river and it's banks are in a bad way ,the river is uninviting and a silty brown color and the river banks where there used to be sand is now mud .

The Bob Turner Track leads to the Colo River, where there is a permanent pool in the river, and a nice sandy bend and camping spot. The track down to the river takes about an hour and a half, at a slow pace. One way is almost 4km. There is a drop of about 300m down to the river, so be prepared for a tiring walk back uphill. Take water, as the river is not for drinking, but there is a creek beside the track at the end that has good water, if you filter/treat it. The camping area is nice, but primitive. The track is (currently) quite good, in that fallen trees have (mostly) been cleared, but the track is rough, and the stairs at the start disappear further along, where you need to clamber down and up rocks and across eroded places. The Colo River floods, so be cautious about swimming, especially at high water levels - check the Upper Colo River Heights on the BOM web site; 0.8m is normal, 1.2m or more is high water and dangerous. The camp ground and sand bank can flood very quickly from rain out west, with little warning! If you start from here to lilo or canoe down the river, note that the lower areas are sand bound - it's like walking in quick sand, and not deep enough to float a boat or lilo. It can take 2 days to get to the next access point out of the river (eg Upper Colo campgrounds). But the river here is an idyllic spot to get close to nature, and the walk down is through a variety of bush vegetation, and it very picturesque.

The firetrail is fine for normal passenger cars with some clearance; watch out for large potholes and logs and branches that may get caught underneath though.Trail down is steep and rocky in certain places. Vertical decent is about 300m from the car park to the river. No toilets or taps etc for drinking water.

Not an overly difficult walking track, that works it’s way down to a nice spot by the Colo river. You can setup a little picnic spot and enjoy the open scenery and have a quick dip in the water to cool off. Make sure you pack decent amount of water to have whilst walking.

Cute area but the walks are pretty long so unless you're prepared with water, hiking boots and for a 3-5 hour walk maybe look elsewhere. Some farms around the area, on the way in there were cows along the road which was sweet

Have done this track several times now. It doesn't take as long as the sign suggests - an hour down and a little longer back up is pretty normal. It's an easy stroll, very well marked track. Depending on when you go, there can be quite a few people at the river. Lots of bushwalkers and some rafters. There's a sandy beach with a goanna and a koala behind it. It's a touch middy but a nice swimming hole as well. It's a peaceful spot to camp.

This is a great trail leading out to the Colo River. It's perfect for those who enjoy a walk and swim in the Aussie bush at its best. It's a long drive from anywhere so bring plenty of food and water + sun protection. There are no toilets, and the dirt road is very bumpy, recommended for 4WD vehicles. Dogs/pets are not allowed. Entry is free. There are about 5 car spaces at the start of the trail marked with a small sign.
