Mr and Mrs Elias - Apartment Renovations

We are first-time renovators that had a vision to create our new home, Jan and James from Mr & Mrs Elias had delivered an outstanding execution of the vision. We wanted a builder that has an experience with older apartments and the complexity around mobilisation, SC approvals, cost and timing. Jan brought a wealth of knowledge from the very first engagement, James' approach as the project manager were consultative and value adding. The project was also delivered on time during one of the most challenging period of construction in 2021.

From our first meeting with Jarn, he and his team worked in partnership with us to create the home we wanted in our Bondi apartment. We had ideas around functionality, design and colour palette, and Jarn was able to enhance that with his design concepts and industry experience. Part of the way through our renovation with had to deal with the initial impact of COVID-19, this created some hurdles that Jarn and his team worked hard to overcome, delivering our renovation project on time and exceeding our expectations. Jan and his team were amazing to deal with. Although my renovations were minor/cosmetic, Jan had a tight time line to completion in December and prior to Christmas, 9 days to be specific. Needless to say, the team got it done on time and with excellent results.Some of the work carried out in less than 10 days was:- Knocking down a load bearing wall to open up the living and dining room in the house, including the re-painting of both rooms. Cornices were all kept to the original type and make- Repurposing and re-installing power points to make them accessible between both rooms- Re-sanding and polishing of floor, ensuring the new timber needing installation where the wall was matched- Ceiling pendants installation- Down lights installation- Installing a new stove top and converting from electrical to gas (gas pipe run to kitchen from gas main also)- TV hanging installThis was all carried out in a professional and friendly manner, Jan always kept me abreast of any development or challenges, but also, always made sure he anticipated things and ensured I had input on decisions needed. For example, I had a vision of changing the flooring in the rooms but Jan advised against it as the quality of floors was in great condition, which saved time.Another important aspect I wanted to highlight is how they behaved in the neigbourhood. To this day, I still get people in the street complimenting the team's behaviour and friendliness throughout their engagement here which speaks greatly on the culture by which Jan runs his company.Thank you again Jan for all the hard work.

We were so happy with their reno work in the bathrooms and their work ethic during the project that we added more to the scope! (seriously that's how awesome it is to work with them!!). The team then updated all of our old wardrobes to gorgeous built in wardrobes with soft closing drawers, installed new sliding closet doors, updated our laundry room, installed a functional sliding door to our bathroom, arranged a painter to paint the entire apartment, modernized our door handles, among so many other things to make our apartment perfect! Jan and his whole team were incredible throughout the renovation process. From reviewing the plan with us at the beginning, managing construction, to taking photographs at the very end - every stage was seamless. We approached the team with a design and they brought it all to life focusing on every detail. I had a great experiencing renovating my Surry Hills apartment with Jan and his team. The entire 1990’s apartment was gutted and turned into a modern home that I am both happy with and proud of. To say I went into this project with a high emotional investment and high expectations is an understatement and, despite the Sydney lockdown which came into effect a week after we started, the team delivered on all expectations.As someone with a fairly busy job, the thing that I valued most about Jan’s business model was that he was able to take care of all aspects of the renovation. He organized the strata application process and by-laws, kept all other residents informed of noisy works, handled complaints, took great care of common property in the building and built a strong relationship with our Building Manager. This gave me great peace of mind while I was stuck in lockdown 10 kms away.I couldn’t possibly write a review for Mr & Mrs Elias without a special mention of my project manager, James. In every respect, James was amazing to work with. He was responsive, detailed and thorough and this gave me great confidence along the way. James was supported by an excellent team, including Jalil and Lok.The finished product is of a high standard. James was meticulous in the final stages of handover and made sure every detail was just right. I am so happy with the outcome and I'm really enjoying living in my new place.I would not hesitate to recommend Mr & Mrs Elias for your apartment renovation. Undertaking a renovation is a very big step for many people as it was for me . Jan and his team have done a beautiful job with my apartment in Elizabeth Bay. Whilst not a full renovation, it certainly feels like one, in fact I often feel that it’s a whole new flat. I’m the rooms he has given his magic touch (bedroom, study and living) they’re completely transformed as is the flow and feel of the entire apartment. Jan’s eye for design and detail was first class and equally matched by his and his team’s flawless execution, notwithstanding some very taxing strata bylaws confines we had to work within. Jan was patient and innovative with solutions, and the members of this team that I met on-site were polite, professional, tidy and punctual! Would highly recommend and will definitely be using him again for the kitchen/bathroom when they need renovating.

Jarn Elias' kitchen renovation services were referred to myself and my wife from a mutual friend and colleague (who has himself exacting standards)! From the product outcome, quality of finishes, it has been revealed that this referral was highly justified. We are very satisfied with Jarn's attention to details and responsiveness throughout the process. He equally flawlessly managed the coordination of various trades in our kitchen enhancement project. We are appreciative of the care he and his crew took in keeping the other untouched parts of our unit tidy. Jarn is strongly committed to deliver exceptional customer service (in a particular instance, he went out-of-normal working hours!) in that he took the initiative to install for us temporary lighting in our enclosed balcony whilst we are awaiting the delivery of our permanent light fixture scheduled next year. Whilst the solution is a short term one, the effect is well coordinated with our brand new feature brick wall and very stylish indeed with its warm copper hues.
