Sep 22 - Road was recently graded, but still heavily corrugated in parts. Allow 3 to 4 hours to get to Steep Point from the turnoff on to Useless Loop Road. Shelter Bay was a great place tp stay with aqua coloured water - Beautiful!

Parts were spectacular although the camping spots south of Denham were basic. The lookouts, especially Eagle Bluff ... just awesome. What is so impressive about Shark Bay is the diversity ... the stromatolites, the amazing Shell Beach, the wild dolphins of Monkey Mia and then the dugong, sharks, turtles and bird life that can all be seen from the shore. A very special place.

Went to Steep point. Great camping and fishing. It's a tough road in and out. You will see busted up trailers on the side of the track going in. We had seven people, three cars, 2 boats and one camper. We ended up braking 3 wheel guards, 1 X leaf spring and killed one tire.It's about 130km from the blacktop in and that took about 4 hours and took us 5 hours to get out (leaf spring).Make sure you take enough beers as if you run out then you have none. Take back up in with you. (We had a spare leaf spring) Things like spare glasses, shoes, water, CB radios, hat ECT.You can catch fish from the beach and rocks. Remember they don't call this area shark bay for nothing. There are lots of them.Make sure to take all your rubbish out with youSee it before it all goes.

One of my favourite place on earth!!

Great holiday spot for fishing and relaxing. We stayed at Denham Seaside Caravan Park. Very clean and tidy, good camp kitchen, ablutions and laundry. Has a fish cleaning facility just off the beach. There are a couple of grocery shops, a pub, bakery/cafe, 2 fuel stations, a restaurant, a post office/pharmacy plus a couple of takeaways, and the obligatory souvenir shop.We had a great 10 days there exploring the area.

Definitely worth visiting for stunning nature and heaps of sea life
