What a gorgeous place. Karin is so lovely. I'm from QLD and was visiting Hobart for a few days but unfortunately we could never make it back in time from our outings to check out the shop. Karin let my daughters and I come in after hours as she was cleaning when I told her our dilemma. We bought a bunch of Ostheimer animals to start our collection...then decided to forfeit Salamanca markets (way too crowded) and bought a bunch more Ostheimer animals instead the next day! Now to find a good place to display them when we go home.

A visit to Lyrebird shop takes you back to the wonderment of childhood. The shop is stocked with thoughtful, useful and natural toys, games, books and equipment for the early years and beyond. These toys will last! Parent crafters will also be delighted with the natural materials available. Centrally located, parking is usually accessible right outside the shop (metered parking so be sure to carry extra coins and then a few more because it's easy to lose track of time). Karin and Rosie both offer knowledgeable advice and will assist in any way they can.

This shop has so many different toys from all over the world. 99% of them are sustainable and/or hand crafted. We try to get our toys from here whenever we can, to support a great local business. Also because some items are pretty unique.

The most beautiful toy store that sells fantastic quality items. We adore the lovely xylophone we purchased, even a baby bashing it aimlessly sounds charming. Can’t wait to be back in Hobart so I can visit Lyrebird again.

I have purchased a number of toys from Lyrebird over the years, and have found Karin to be knowledgeable and helpful. I don't live in Tasmania and Karin is always happy to ship to where I live. Great selection of toys.

The best shop in Habart for Steiner related resources and toys. An amazing assortment, from birth to teens. Lyrebird has creative art equipment, resources and books in stock also. The staff are always helpful and supportive and able to answer questions about how a particular item is best used etc. What a gem, Hobart is lucky to have this retail outlet.

Excellent shop, high quality toys and well caring staff. It is the perfect place to go and get toys for your kids. The selection is truly superb and we are happily regular customers. It is not the cheap plastic toy from super market, they are absolutely top quality.
