Grampians Horse Riding Centre

During our trip around Australia for the last 6 months I've been keeping a keen eye out for a trail riding experience that would engage my husband despite his disinterest in horsemanship and this place jumped out at me. Cameron is an amazing trainer and taught the group on how to control his beautiful horses as well as how to trot (3 ways) and canter (2 ways). We always felt safe but there was an element of freedom that my husband really took to and he was soon out trotting and out cantering me. I asked him if he liked horses now and got a resounding they're alright". I also asked if he'd be happy to go riding again in the next 6 months and he said yes! It's taken me nearly 10 years to get him on a horse so I'm absolutely stoked. Thank you so much Cameron for a beautiful ride and for your knowledge and help."

We had an excellent time at GHRC. We were drawn to this trail ride due to its reputation as a ride during which patrons are actually instructed and have the opportunity to learn something. Cameron certainly delivered on this: we left more confident and skilful than we were when we arrived thanks to his practical instruction and friendly manner. Additionally, the horses are beautiful and well cared for, and their tack and all other equipment is top notch — no uncomfortable helmets here. We will definitely be back, GHRC is more than worth the drive.

Don’t miss this one…Cameron & son Angus were knowledgeable, friendly and approachable hosts. Imparting horsemanship also giving much needed confidence to our young ladies (12yo) one, being a complete novice and the other an intermediate pony club rider.Both riders were able to enjoy this ride at their respective levels and come away with smiles for days.An intimate group of 5 riders only plus Cameron & Angus allowed the girls to go independently without us parents nagging.Purchase their ‘first for horses’ book complied and written by Cameron as it has a wealth of knowledge for everyone.Highly recommend, we will return when in the area.

Cam McDonald is brilliant at what he does!Over a three hour trail ride he methodically teaches horse knowledge and riding skills to all levels of riders.One hour in; people are riding independently, confident and happy loving the ride.

What a wonderful peaceful ride. Cameron provides an trail ride where everyone can feel confident, capable and safe regardless of your experience. I can not recommend this highly enough. Beautiful, well trained horses. Interesting trails and a host who will teach you how to ride and have good conversations at the same.

This is more than just your average trail riding centre. If you enjoy well educated quality horses then this is for you. Safety is always a priority but balanced with fun engaging exercises. Cameron respects his horses and expects you to do the same. He has a wealth of equine knowledge to offer if you're willing to be educated and is not afraid to keep you in check or alternatively allow you to ride ahead if capable. The scenery is magic and you will come away refreshed and more confident in your skills.We had a group of four riders from absolute beginner to rusty old keen 'wanna be' and all thoroughly beamed after our ride!Can't wait to have the privilege to ride with you again Cameron. Where to start... beautiful scenery, beautiful well educated horses and an awesome experience. Our guide Cameron catered to our every need and made it fun for everyone as we had experienced and beginner riders in our group. If you're after good quality horsemanship, up for learning something new and having an absolute ball... book 10 times over. Because I would go back in a heart beat.

Fantastic! Cameron will teach you everything you need to know to be confident horse riding. We enjoyed the complementary overnight camping in the beautiful remote location the night before the ride. Highly recommend!
